Piece of Mind, Painkiller, and Divine Intervention

On December 7, 2025 Iron Maiden shared the news of Nicko McBrains’s retirement from touring.

While perusing Iron Maiden’s catalogue, I started listening to these records one after another for a reason.

Piece of Mind by Iron Maiden (1983)
Painkiller by Judas Priest (1990)
Divine Intervention by Slayer (1994)

These three records have two things in common and they are:

The records opened with drums
Each record is the debut of a new drummer in the band
