Some people are reporting that the latest update to Google Chrome cause the program crashing in Mac OS X Lion. Some accounted that all latest release, beta and developer versions of Google Chrome are crashing in Mac OS X Lion. It is unclear what changes in Google Chrome caused the issue, but some also pointed out the problem can be averted by disabling extensions when using the release and beta versions.

According to some postings, enable “Warn before quitting” in Chrome.
It doesn’t stay open long enough to do anything with. How can I disable the extensions?
Delete the preferences from your Library Folder. One is in Preferences folder and one in Application support.
That worked for me. I deleted the preferences file in the application support of my user folder and it’s stopped crashing.

Similar problem on OS X 10.6.8. Google Chrome 12.0.742.100. No luck with the fix suggested by 37 Prime. This problem seems to have manifested itself with updating from OS X 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 for me, as the Google Chrome has stayed the same version during this period, and the only thing that changed for me was the OS X updates.

hell i can’t even download that shit. it always worked before. i even installed opera to see if it could do better than safari at downloading the chrome installer. no go.
Can you guys help me and tell where I find this preferences file? Chrome was working fine until I did the last stupid update. Now I open it and the moment I click on something or start typing, it crashes. I hate myself right now!!!! Thanks.
after last update (17.0.963.56m) it crash all time, about 5-6 times at half hour. It’s no logical reason for that. sometimes that’s hapen when is open and no working in them. i have win XP sp3 last relase…google crome become garbage of browser
Try the Beta version or the Dev version.

I have tried everything: removing all preferences, installing the beta… Chrome always crashes immediately. It has started as soon as I have installed Lion.
This issues has been resolved a while back. You might have other problems if Chrome still crashing.
If you’re using SSD, you might want to check for problems.
