Mac App Store: Google, Mozilla, Skype, Adobe and many others are still absent.

Mac App Store has just launched, and I immediately searched for apps that I always installed on my Macs. A lot of them are not present yet at Mac App Store. No apps from Google, Mozilla, Skype, Adobe and many others.

Are they going to add their apps into Mac App Store later on?

Will Mozilla Foundations ever agree with Apple’s terms on Mac App Store?

  1. It’s not the Mozilla foundation, the GPL itself is at odds with the Mac App Store. Also, apps that require supplemental technologies (IE, Java, Adobe Air) are not allowed.

Apple’s going to have to change their ToS if they want these apps.

With the iPhone, they had the luxury of rigid enforcement as there wasn’t an existing software base that broke. With OS-X though, I’m pretty sure they’ve excluded all the non-Apple apps in the top 10 installed list (I’m pretty sure Microsoft Office is in violation).
