I’m pretty sure it’s one of the bugs in the iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5. For some reasons, the Calculator icon is permanently replaced with Yahoo! App icon.
I tried uninstalling Yahoo! App and restarting the iPhone but it remained. It’s not a showstopper, but it just a little bit bothering me. So I restored my iPhone Software.
Try a hard reset. It worked for with beta 5. Hold lock and home button at the same time, for a few seconds.
Thanks for the tip, but obviously I’ve tried that before the restore.
i’ve got the same problem, having a game app. icon instead of my calculator icon.
no clue how to resolve.
I tried resetting the iPhone by pressing and holding the home button and reset button. That didn’t help. So I did the software restore. Remember to sync and backup the iPhone before you do that. Don’t forget to import the pictures first.

I had an itouch icon for my site. Worked awesome. I then deleted it for some dumb reason, and now when I went to add the site to my home screen again, the icon doesn’t show up. Just the front page of my site (the default).
Anyone have any ideas? I’ve tried pretty much everything.
You need the apple-touch-icon.png for your site,

I have one- it’s in my root folder… I also put it in my images folder, as well.
I have this in my underneath the title.
I have emptied my cache on Safari on my iphone, thinking that was it. No go. My husband just got an iphone yesterday, having never been to my site on his new phone, I figured it might work if I added my site to his home screen (+) , but it doesn’t work on his phone either. I only get the default front page of my site.
I’m perplexed!
Does anyone know?
What is the URL of your site?
oops- it didn’t take the html…
I have THIS
link rel=”apple-touch-icon” href=”/images/apple-touch-icon.png”/
in less than/ greater than brackets in my head.
http://clubderder.com
I can’t find the icon file. According to your source code it should be at:
http://www.clubderder.com/images/apple-touch-icon.png
but it’s not there.
it’s here
http://clubderder.com/images/apple-touch-icon.png
I figured it out.
You have to bookmark:
http://clubderder.com/ instead of http://www.clubderder.com/
Unfortunately, The Safari in iPhone OS 3.0 automatically picked up the .htaccess and add www prefix.
See the difference here:
http://clubderder.com/images/apple-touch-icon.png
http://www.clubderder.com/images/apple-touch-icon.png
My guess is that the host caused this.
I should mention, I switched from blogger to my new domain.
naked domain, you can see it. www. and you can’t.
I should mention, I switched from blogger to my own domain. I still use my blogger acct for publishing, but didn’t want blogspot.com in my address.
It shows on my naked domain, but www. you get a redirect from my old blogger. What should I do?
Sorry, Akismet thought that your comment was spam.
Check the .htaccess on your main site.
Nice work, my friend!
Thank you!!
Unfortunately I can’t go to http://clubderder.com/ with iPhone OS 3.0 Safari. It automatically redirects to http://www.clubderder.com/.
I hope this is enough clue for you to make it work.
I just changed from blogspot to my own domain, the redirect is in there for a reason, I just can’t remember why right now.
Anyway, I just pulled out my redirect for a second, bookmarked it, then put my redirect back in.
I’ll figure out what to do about my redirect.
Thanks!!
Glad I can help.
One other way is to change:
“apple-touch-icon” href=”/images/apple-touch-icon.png”
to
“apple-touch-icon” href=”http://clubderder.com/images/apple-touch-icon.png”
“apple-touch-icon” href=”http://clubderder.com/images/apple-touch-icon.png”
doesn’t work 🙁
SHEEZE!
But I still have the icon from when I pulled out the redirect.
That’s pretty odd.
I’ll let you know if there’s another way to make it work the way it supposed to.
