Laptop Hard Drive Upgrade

I upgraded my MacBook Pro hard drive to fresh install Mac OS X Leopard along with iLife ’09 and iWork ’09. I opted to get Western Digital Scorpio Black 320GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache notebook hard drive. I could have gotten a 500GB hard drive, but it is running at 5400RPM and only has 8MB cache.

I also need to get an external SATA FireWire/USB/eSATA enclosure or dock for the old hard drive.

My favorite 2.5-inch SATA hard drive enclosure with FireWire is none other than OWC Mercury On-The-Go. It is a little bit pricey, but by-far it has been the best enclosure I ever have.

Canon Vixia HG21 Raw AVCHD Sample

I was planning to post Canon Vixia HG20 raw AVCHD sample until I get to play with Canon Vixia HG21. Both cameras share similar specifications with the exceptions of larger hard drive and electronic viewfinder on Canon Vixia HG21.

I forgot to check the date on the camcorder. It says that it was recorded on April 25th, 2008. Check out a different video sample below.

The Mysterious Face in The Sky

I love the new features in iPhoto ’09, especially Faces. I also am aware that Faces still has a lot of room for improvements.

I’m a little bit spooked with what iPhoto ’09 sees that I could not. There’s a face in the sky, is it a ghost?

New Hard Drive, iLife ’09, iWork ’09 and Canon EFS IS Lens.

January has been a relatively idle month, because I have been preoccupied with a lot of things. There are a lot of news that I could repost here, and there are a lot of subjects I could blog about.

Catching up on the “blogging” a little bit, these are a few things I’ll be talking about in the coming week:

  • Installing new hard-drive on my 15-inch MacBook Pro Core Duo 2GHz.
  • The Mac Box Set that includes iLife ’09, iWork ’09 and Mac OS X Leopard.
  • Canon EFS 55-250mm IS lens.

I’ve been playing with iPhoto ’09 for the past few days and planning to post a few fun stuff I found.

I guess I’d better stop slacking and write some more.

Before I forget, I’m eyeing Panasonic HDC-SD100 AVCHD Camcorder.

P.S. Carlos Alazraqui and Jill-Michele Meleán will be performing at The Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena on February 5th, 2009. Be There!

Haven’t read this for a while.

Thanks to the introductions of the Unibody MacBook, Apple now can proudly add the following disclaimer:

Note: Not all Macintosh Computers include a FireWire port. Check your system configuration to confirm your Mac includes FireWire support before attempting to connect a DV or HDV camcorder.

It is not exactly new news, but I haven’t ever read something like that since the introductions of FireWire.

iPhoto ’09: Faces

Apple introduces new features to iPhoto ’09 such as Places and Faces.

Faces automatically scans iPhoto library right after the upgrade, and it might take a while to process all the data. I have 3368 of assorted pictures in my iPhoto Library, and I’m looking at a good 80 minutes for my 15-inch MacBook Pro Core Duo 2.0GHz to process Faces data.

I’m going to post some screenshots from faces, if I remember to.
