One thing I learned about photography is that great moments come out of nowhere. Luckily I had my camera ready and captured the action.

Chomp!
Patchouli, The Outtake.
Nexus 7, The Wait.
A lot of people have received their Nexus 7 on Monday July 16th, 2012. I on the other hand would be receiving one sometimes later today.
My colleague suggested we all should go to Pick Up Stix for lunch today and we did. Then I get this fortune:
A small lucky package is on its way to you soon.
Well played, as long as this Nexus 7 is in a relatively small package.
A Boxful of Gouda.
TDSS Rootkit
A client called me because one of the office computer “was not working.”
Well, the problem was much severe than described. It suffered from multiple malware infections. As usual, I used numbers of applications to detect and remove the malware. I also noted that this computer is unable to download any Windows Update.
- Microsoft’s Malicious Software Removal Tool
- Microsoft’s Safety Scanner
- Malwarebytes AntiMalware
- Combofix
- Spybot – Search & Destroy
- Hitman Pro
So, the system is infected with TDSS Rootkit.
The next step is to download Kaspersky Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller.
I made sure to “Change parameters” and select the option to detect TDSS file system.
After a reboot, Windows is able to download and install updates.
