Going Back to Windows 8

Going Back to Windows 8

For some odd reasons, Windows 10 would not activate after upgrading from Windows 8.1. I called Microsoft and they told me to reinstall Windows 8, then upgrade to Windows 8.1 and upgrade to Windows 10. Microsoft also advised me to call HP and request Windows 8 Product Key should the process failed.

Seriously?

Windows 10 is not activated

Apparently the “factory-installed” product key caused the error. The end user product key is said to be installed in the UEFI BIOS, encrypted.

I guess I’d have to spend a few more days on this project.

Installing Windows 10

Windows 10 Setup

Installing Windows 10 is a time-consuming affair. As a matter of fact it has been “checking for updates” for an hour by now.

UPDATE:

It is about 2:00 A.M. and finally it is “installing”. I gotta go to bed.

System Recovery on an HP Computer

HP System Recovery

Two hours into System Recovery on an HP computer, a few more hours to go.

I had to order the Windows 8 recovery media from HP which consists of five DVDs. If only HP would let customer to download the System Recovery disk images for those who have the bandwidth.

Amazon Prime Now, 8:31 A.M. Delivery

Amazon Prime Now 8am

On New Year’s Eve, my friends and I were talking about the need to buy new hard drives. In the conversation, someone mentioned about a great deal for a 4 TB hard Drive at Amazon Prime Now. I checked it out and it was indeed a great deal. The most incredible part is that the hard drive was available for delivery on New Years Eve from 10:00 P.M. to 12:00 A.M.; unbelievable it seemed. I opted to have the order delivered the next morning, between 08:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. on New Year’s Day.

By 08:00 A.M. I received a text that my order is being delivered. At 08:31 A.M., the courier arrived my doorstep and handed me a paper bag with a hard drive in it.

Using the Amazon Prime Now App, I set a $12.00 tip for the courier.

All in all, it was a great experience.

Gotta do something about the dust.

109 Degree Weather in SoCal 20151009

If not for one hot October day in Southern California, I wouldn’t have noticed how dusty this part of my car.

Yep, it was 109°F on Friday, October 9, 2015 somewhere in Orange County, 5 miles away from the shoreline.
