WordPress 3.9.2

WordPress 3.9.2 is released to address some security issues.

WordPress 3.9.2 is now available as a security release for all previous versions. We strongly encourage you to update your sites immediately.

This release fixes a possible denial of service issue in PHP’s XML processing, reported by Nir Goldshlager of the Salesforce.com Product Security Team. It  was fixed by Michael Adams and Andrew Nacin of the WordPress security team and David Rothstein of the Drupal security team. This is the first time our two projects have coordinated joint security releases.

It is highly imperative to update to WordPress 3.9.2.

WordPress 3.9.2

In July 2014, WordPress plugin MailPoet were found to be vulnerable and affected sites running Joomla and Magento.

It is highly recommended to update to the latest version of WordPress whenever possible, as long as it doesn’t break certain plugins you can’t live without.

Notice the polite request for App Review at the end of the release note?

One thing I did notice about WordPress for iOS is the lack of solicitation for App Store review. John Gruber has some great points.

Google’s Matt Cutts is hunting for Scraper Sites

Google’s Matt Cutts tweeted:

If you see a scraper URL outranking the original source of content in Google, please tell us about it: http://bit.ly/scraperspamreports

IT is truly frustrating to see your original contents stolen by these scraper sites. That’s an outright theft. It is relatively to find these scrapers, there are a lot of scraper blogs on WordPress.com.

Dan Barker replied and hilarity ensues:

.@mattcutts I think I have spotted one, Matt. Note the similarities in the content text: pic.twitter.com/uHux3rK57f
