iOS 7.1 and Awesome Typography

One tiny thing that Apple iOS team did not care about is the “Disable Background App Refresh” button. They could set the text button in two lines, but they won’t.

iOS 7.1 Disable Background App Refresh Forced Typography

@JonyIveParody certainly took notice back in September 2013.

It looks even uglier more beautiful when “Button Shapes” is turned on.

Kenu Airframe

Kenu Airframe, which has been on the market for more than a year, seems to offer a pretty good solution in mounting a smartphone in a car. Kenu Airframe attaches smartphone on to the car air vent. It is compact and takes little space.

Kenu Airframe

There are concerns with heat and moistures when mounting a smartphone on the car air vent. with that in mind, probably it is not a good idea to mount any electronics on the car air vent when the heater is on.

Kenu Airframe can be purchased at Apple Store, Kenu.com and other retailers.

Apple Seeds OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 build 13D12

As already reported by many sites, Apple seeds OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 build 12D12 to Developers.

OS X Mavericks Seed Update 10.9.3 build 13D12

Details of this seed is covered by Apple Developer NDA, but it didn’t stop any of the sites (1, 2, 3, 4, …) from mentioning them.

In the mean time, Apple Developers are anxiously waiting for the GM or release build of iOS 7.1, since the current build (beta 5) has the goto fail vulnerability.

When asked about the release date of iOS 7.1, firstname@apple.com simply said “soon.”

Troubleshooting: Apple TV Status Light Stays On in Sleep Mode

I picked up an Apple TV on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. I needed one for instructional purpose and the $25 iTunes Gift Card was a pleasant bonus. I noticed that the status light on the Apple TV stays on even when it was supposed to be in sleep mode. Afterward I noticed that the Apple TV felt really warm. This is the third Apple TV I owned, the other two are still in use and do not behave like this one.

Apple TV Status Light Stays On

According to Apple Support document the status light on Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation):

  • Glows – Apple TV is on
  • Is off – Apple TV is off or in standby
  • Flashes once – Apple TV is accepting a command from the remote
  • Flashes slowly – Apple TV is starting up

This particular Apple TV does not Flash in any way. The main concern is that this Apple TV actually stays on even though it is supposedly in sleep mode.
