Slayer’s Open Letter to their fans.

From Slayer.net:

AN OPEN LETTER TO SLAYER FANS AROUND THE WORLD:

…….

While Jeff’s been doing some writing and has been coming to rehearsal over the past several weeks, he has decided he needs to take more time to continue his rehab. While we want him back onstage with the band, all of us support his decision. So, we’re very grateful that Gary Holt will continue to fill in for Jeff, and will tour with us until Jeff completes his rehab and is ready to return. How long will that be? The best and most honest answer we can give you is ‘as long as it takes.’ We also wanted you to know that we’ve been doing some writing and recording for the next Slayer album – we’ve tracked a few songs, and will finish the album when we’re off the road later this year.

…….

Well wishes to Jeff Hanneman.

It’s an Overkill, but we are still wanting more.

The show might have been dubbed as The Big 4, but there jam should have been called The Big 5. At Yankees Stadium in Bronx, members of Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax and Exodus performed “Overkill”, a Motorhead’s classic. Yes, Exodus member Gary Holt who is filling in for Slayer’s Jeff Hanneman was on stage jamming with the other 4 bands. At the end of the song, Dave Lombardo and Charlie Benante took turns on the drums. Note to Lars Ulrich, now that’s the proper way to play drum.

  • James Hetfield
  • Kirk Hammett
  • Rob Trujillo
  • Lars Ulrich
  • Kerry King
  • Dave Lombardo
  • Gary Holt
  • David Ellefson
  • Chris Broderick
  • Shawn Drover
  • Joey Belladona
  • Scott Ian
  • Rob Caggiano
  • Frank Bello
  • Charlie Benante

Not sure If I saw Dave Mustaine, Tom Araya or Jeff Hanneman.

p.s. I see my friend Willie Gee on stage again with The Big Four.

Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax performed “Helpless” in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

The Big Four 2011 European Tour kicked off on July 2nd, 2011 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Megadeth .com broke the news that Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax (sans Scott Ian plus Andreas Kisser) performed Diamond Head’s classic “Helpless” together. Slayer members didn’t join the jam due to what they called “travel arrangement”.

Next The Big Four show will be in Gothenburg, Sweden on July 3rd, 2011.

Highlights from The Big 4 in Indio, California.

The Big 4 show is done and there are two things need to be reported:

  • Jeff Hanneman performs with Slayer for the first time following the arm surgery playing South of Heaven and Angel of Death.
  • Another “Am I Evil?” jam by Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. I think that was Kerry King on stage-left.

There might be another live DVD/Blu-ray in the works here.
