Google Voice in Gmail, Oh Yeah!

Google has just made Google Voice even sweeter on Wednesday August 25th, 2010. Now Google Voice users can receive and make calls from Gmail. Providing the microphone and speakers are available. Notebook users should have little problems with the requirements.

You need to install “Video and voice plug-in” to enable this feature with your browser. Video and voice plug-in requires Windows XP+ or Mac OS X 10.4+ or Linux.

Google is slowly rolling out this feature to Google Voice users in the United States. So be patient.

Head to Google Voice.

Apple Announces September 1, 2010 Music Event.

Just in case you’ve been waiting to get a new iPod, waiting for another week would be a good idea. Apple has sent out invitations to select few that don’t rhyme with bizmodo to a September 1, 2010 Music Event. The event will be held at Yerba Buena Center for The Arts Theater in San Francisco. The event starts at 10:00 AM Cupertino Time.

As usual some sites will be bringing live coverage from the event.

What do we know so far?

  • iOS 4.1 availability will be announced for iPhone and iPod touch; not the iPad.
  • New iPod line-up.
  • More FaceTime devices.

Other speculations:

  • The next TV (that’s Apple TV if you can’t see the Apple Logo).
  • The next iLife suite.
  • New iTunes software and services.

Crazy Speculations:

  • Rounded corner of something.
  • White iPhone 4.

Anyway, as usual check back for list of live coverage links here.

Futurama “The Prisoner of Benda” and Stargate SG-1 “Holiday”

Gotta love the Futurama episode titled “The Prisoner of Benda” that aired on August 19th, 2010.

Don’t worry if you haven’t watched it, there will be no spoilers here. Well, with the exception of the screenshot above.

The Futurama gang tried to solve a group theory and it does remind me an episode of Stargate SG-1 titled “Holiday” (Season 2 episode 17). The SG-1 team also tried to solve a group theory but with a smaller set of variables.

In the spirit of South Park episode titled “Simpsons Already Did It” (Season 6 Episode 7):

Stargate SG-1 Did It!

Apple Store is Down for some apparent reasons.

It is reported everywhere that Apple Store Online is down for updates. What would it be?

According to someone who don’t give a damn about this non-news, Apple will be introducing some kind of thing that a small portion of Mac users would buy regardless what the product is.

Actually this is an excuse to post the screenshot from Apple Store App on the iPhone 3GS.

Why iPhone 3GS? No I do not have iPhone 4 yet, leave me alone! Steve Jobs promised me a white iPhone 4 and it’s not here yet. By the word “promise” I meant that Steve Jobs is not obligated to anything. I’m rocking Nexus One as my main phone right now. Thus the Airplane Mode.

Yet another Text-Spam: 1-305-877-4908

Text-Spam is really annoying because it actually uses the SMS quota, unless you have the ulimited plan.

I received another Text Spam message on August 15th, 2010. Don’t bother calling 1-305-877-4908 back, because it doesn’t take any phone calls and the voice mail-box is not set-up. All you need to do is to file complaints to FCC because such unsolicited text messages violate CAN-SPAM Act.

You should file form 1088G to report this violation. File a complaint on FCC site http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

You can also call 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-2255-322) voice; 1-888-TELL-FCC (1-888-8355-322) TTY.

The text reads:

Do you owe $10,000+ to the IRS? Our gov’t approved program can REDUCE BACK TAXES by over 70%. Reply “YES” to see if you qualify! (optout, reply:out)

Text-Spam does violate the Communication Act of 1934.
