So I caved in and ordered ADATA 128GB S599 SandForce 2.5-inch SSD. It is all in the name of research.
Apple to hold “Back to the Mac.” event Wednesday October 20th, 2010.
Apple is sending out invitations to the Press for an event dub as “Back to the Mac.”
“Back to the Mac.”?
As many pundits have been chattering about, that includes you Leo Laporte, Apple seemed to have been “neglecting” the Mac for quite sometimes now. iPhone and iPad have been taking the lionhsare of attentions from Apple and the public. Well it is time for the Mac to take the lionshare with the next version of Mac OS, most likely be codenamed Lion. Lion, Lionshare… get it?
The hint is pretty obvious that the next Mac OS X will be previewed on this event. The first beta of the next version of Mac OS X may as well be made available after the event, as many Developers hope. Who knows if Apple might be dropping the “X” from its upcoming Operating System. There’s the iOS and here comes the Mac OS; one can only speculate. “Say hello to Mac OS 10.7 Lion.” That is so hybrid of 1990’s and 2000’s.
Many news outlets are also speculating that a new MacBook Air will be introduced in this event. A smaller MacBook Air perhaps. The rumor mills have been saying that Apple is working on an 11-inch MacBook Air. We all will find that out soon.
Will Apple also refresh the MacBook Pro lines? It is possible if Apple somehow managed to acquire the next generations of Intel Processors before its early 2011 release date.
“Back to the Mac.” event will be held on Apple Cupertino Campus on Wednesday October 20th, 2010 at 10:00AM Pacific Time (18:00 UTC). Is is unknown if Apple will stream the event on Apple.com just like the Spetember 2010 Music Event.
Check back for more info and ridiculous claims of telepathically obtained info of the “Back to the Mac.” event.
By the way, does that one site get the invite to this event? The site that bought and disassembled (broke) the “stolen” iPhone prototype?
Apple seeds iOS 4.2 beta 3 to Developers.
iOS 4.2 beta 3 arrived a few hours earlier than expected today. Apple has been sending out notices to registered iOS developers about the availability of the latest beta of iOS 4.2 this Afternoon.
As usual thanks to a three-letter-abbreviation that is not an acronym known as NDA, details are scarce. Apple is working out the bugs in iOS 4.2 to meet the unspecified November 2010 self-imposed deadline.
iOS 4.2 beta 3 is also accompanied by iTunes 10.1 beta 2, available for Mac OS X and Windows (x86 and x64).

Skype now available for Android phones
- Skype is not available in the Android Market in China or Japan.
- Skype has been tested on HTC and Motorola devices with Android OS 2.1 and above. It may work on other Android phones, but we can’t guarantee full functionality or compatibility. We’re aware of some problems with the Samsung Galaxy S, and we’re looking to address these in the future.
- It’s free to use Skype in a WiFi zone. If you use Skype with a mobile data connection, operator charges may apply, so we recommend an unlimited data plan.
- In the US, you can make calls only over WiFi.
- A fair use policy applies to unlimited subscriptions.
Steve Ballmer wants Microsoft to regain “Evil Company” Title by threatening Android.
In recent Interview with The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer says that there are licensing fees for Android.
WSJ: Are you trying to protect Windows or do you see Windows Phone 7 as a big revenue opportunity in and of itself?
Mr. Ballmer: No, I see it as a big opportunity. There’s the sale of the device, there’s potential for search revenue on top of that and commerce revenue. There’s potential for subscription revenue from various entertainment or productivity experiences.
Job One here will be selling a lot of phones, and if we sell a lot of phones, good things are going to happen.
WSJ: You’re still charging a license fee for the software.
Mr. Ballmer: Sure.
WSJ: Is that difficult in an environment where Android is free?
Mr. Ballmer: Android has a patent fee. It’s not like Android’s free. You do have to license patents. HTC’s signed a license with us and you’re going to see license fees clearly for Android as well as for Windows.
Since Google is not charging any licensing fees, then who is?
Well, Microsoft is currently going after Motorola for making Android phones. Motorola currently does not making any phones based on Windows Phone 7 platform.
Microsoft had signed “Patent deal” with HTC over Android. Some pundits “cheered” this move as a way for HTC to fend off Apple on the ongoing lawsuit.
Microsoft is poised to regain the “Evil Company” title with this move if only if the consumer cares about the issue. Unfortunately some influential Tech-Elitists are not saying anything much about Microsoft asserting “ownership” over Android and Linux.
