This Coming Week: CES and Mac App Store.

January 6th, 2011 marks the kick-off for International Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas. Companies will be showcasing their upcoming product line-up for 2011. Expect a lot of tablet computing devices from different companies. Android will the the OS Flavor of the show. Microsoft will be there, again with their version of tablet. I’m looking forward to new DSLR cameras from Canon and Nikon. Maybe this year we will see improved consumer level camcorders.

January 6th, 2011 is also the scheduled opening day for Mac App Store. This also means Mac OS X 10.6.6 will be available shortly before the Mac App Store opening.

Canon EOS 60D, a One Thousand Dollar Question.

I am considering buying Canon EOS 60D instead of Canon EOS 7D. There are a few things about EOS 60D that I like over EOS 7D.

  • The new tilt-swivel LCD
  • Most of the features from EOS 7D
  • Lower price point than EOS 7D

To be honest, the tilt-swivel LCD is great for shooting videos with EOS 60D.

I need more informations before I buy a new DSLR Camera Body. Then again, Canon might announce new DSLR camera at Winter CES 2011. Well, I’ll wait for another week.

Welcome, 2011!

Happy New Year!
2011 is the new 2010.

By the way it is pretty cold in Southern California. It is only 35 degree Fahrenheit.

Trouble in FiOS Paradise tonight.

UPDATE:
FiOS service is back to normal around 1:00 AM.

I’m having such a hard time accessing the Series of Tubes tonight. I have been enjoying Verizon FiOS service for a few years now. I was working on a MacBook Pro and was going to download Mac OS X 10.6.5 Combo Update. I then noticed that the download speed was so horrible so I checked if the problem was with Apple’s server or my Internet service. After numbers of tests, it was apparent that the FiOS service was having issues. I tested the Internet speed using SpeedTest.net and found out the download speed was significantly lower than usual. It was down to 1.5 Mb/s in a few tests. At one point the result from SpeedTest.net was really amusing.

6.66 Mb/s

I must be easily amused.
