Android 2.2.2 FRG83G for Nexus One.

UPDATE:

I received an email from a colleague late last night:

Weird, my phone updated to 2.2.2 frg83g.

He is referring to his Nexus One receiving Froyo 2.2.2 OTA update. I have a Nexus One also, but I have yet received the Froyo 2.2.2 OTA update. As a matter of fact I’m anticipating Gingerbread 2.3 to be delivered to Nexus One based on the tweet by @googlenexus back in December 20th, 2010. One month in, and still no news about Gingerbread for Nexus One.

I could install a custom Android 2.3 firmware, but I am waiting for the official version.

Free WordPress Theme, a lesson in security.

So you are running your own WordPress site. There are a lot of things you need to be aware of to keep it secure. Keep up with the releases, be mindful of the plugins and know where you get the theme from.

Siobhan Ambrose at WPMU.org:

A few months ago I wrote about WordPress Security. Now, armed only with the words “free WordPress themes,” builtBackwards’ Theme Authenticity Checker Plugin and Donncha O Caoimh’s Exploit Scanner, I’m going to take a look through the first page of Google to see just how safe pages ranking for “Free WordPress Themes” are.

…….

Out of the ten sites on the first page of Google, here are the stats:

  • Safe: 1
  • Iffy: 1
  • Avoid: 8

It is not a surprise, just like searching for “free movie download” and getting a list of danger-laden sites. If you a WordPress site hosted by WordPress.com, then you can be assured that it is as safe as it can be. As always, look for free themes through WordPress.org site.

Seriously, can you give me the discs already?

One thing I really hate about buying computers for the past few years is the absence of OS Installer Disc or The Recovery Discs. Of course there are exceptions to the rule.

Seriously, I need to burn 10 DVD’s for the recovery discs? Come on.

Some people blames Microsoft for their insistence on not giving end users Windows Installer Discs. After all, the consumer are all pirates inside right?

So, where can I sign up as Industry Analyst?

Fortune’s Phillip Elmer De-Witt posted the “aftermath” to the showdown between the Pro and the Amateur on Apple’s Quarterly Earning Reports. It was no surprise that the Pro Analyst are beaten by the Amateurs.

I need a ob as Tech Industry Analyst with minimum of six-digit salary. I can make stuff up and be a lot more accurate than the current crops of Proffesional Analysts employed by the big firms.

Brain Not Needed, Tech Analyst Wanted!

Preview Microsoft New Home Page, as long as you’re not using Safari.

Microsoft is giving a sneak peek at its new home page. According to Microsoft, to view the new home page your computer must meet the following requirement:

  • Windows 7 or Windows Vista with one of the following browsers: Internet Explorer 9 or 8, Mozilla Firefox 3.x, or Google Chrome 8.x

It is odd that Microsoft is supporting Chrome right away, while the other Webkit-based browser namely Safari is not supported.

By the way, Chrome for Mac OS X can view the home page just fine.
