Shopping List for Upgrading to OS X Lion.

I’m compiling a shopping list for upgrading to OS X Lion. I prefer doing a clean install in lieu of upgrade.

The following are the items I’m getting for installing OS X Lion on a 2010 Unibody MacBook Pro:

  • An 8 GB USB drive.
  • A new hard drive or SSD.
  • External FireWire 800 case for SATA Drive.
  • 8GB of RAM.

Well, this list is generally would be similar with most OS X Lion compatible Macs.

Apple Reports Third Quarter Results, apparently it is good.

Apple has released its Fiscal Year 2011 Third Quarter Results.

All-Time Record Revenue and Earnings

iPhone Sales Grow 142 Percent; iPad Sales Grow 183 Percent

…….

The Company sold 20.34 million iPhones in the quarter, representing 142 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter. Apple sold 9.25 million iPads during the quarter, a 183 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 3.95 million Macs during the quarter, a 14 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. Apple sold 7.54 million iPods, a 20 percent unit decline from the year-ago quarter.

As expected, iPod sales is declining as iPhone and iPad dominate.

Amazon.com and California, the Sales Tax War Rages On.

Previously on Amazon.com and California:

Amazon.com terminates its Associates Program in California in response to Governor Jerry Brown signing the law that requires online retailers to collect sales taxes even though they don’t have any physical presence in California.

The New York Times reports that:

Amazon said this week that it would push a voter initiative in California that could eliminate sales tax for virtual sellers with only a modest physical presence in the state.

Amazon.com founder and CEO Jeff Bezos supports the streamlined sales tax initiative, which should be legislated by the federal government.

Bender in a box.

Just received a Bender toy in the mail.

Should I take it out of the packaging? Should I buy another one?

I know I can use it for a lot of photography idea.

P.S.
New Futurama episode coming tomorrow: “The Silence Of The Clamps”
After testifying against the Robot Mafia, Bender goes into hiding in the witness relocation program.

Dear Netflix, what?

Netflix introduces new subscription plans and price changes.

So for instance, our current $9.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs will be split into 2 distinct plans:

Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month
Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs, 1 out at-a-time (no streaming), for $7.99 a month.

The price for getting both of these plans will be $15.98 a month ($7.99 + $7.99). For new members, these changes are effective immediately; for existing members, the new pricing will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.

If you are currently a Netflix subscriber, check your plan and act accordingly.

I have streaming only service and I’ d have to pay another $7.99 to get the DVD by mail. I’d be completely happy to have streaming only service if there were more newer movies available.

Lazy Saturday, or is it?

I spent the whole Saturday moving computers from an office to a temporary location. The current office will undergo some renovations for the next few months. Had a nice lunch break at El Torito with everyone. We’ll be getting all new Gigabit network at the office when it’s done in addition to newly partition rooms, new desks, new bathrooms, new HVAC system, and a lot more.
