This lump of coal is for Samsung.

It is Christmas and Samsung found a lump of coal in the stocking. That’s for not providing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for its Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab.

From The Verge:

Samsung has just distributed the worst news of this Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade cycle: the popular Galaxy S smartphone that sold 10 million units last year and the 7-inch Galaxy Tab tablet won’t be upgraded to Android 4.0.

Everyone points out that Samsung Galaxy S is basically the same with Nexus S which is getting Ice Cream Sandwich. So what is Samsung’s real excuse? Maybe Samsung wants the consumer to buy new Samsung phone every 6 months.

For that Samsung does deserve the lump of coal.

This lump of coal is for Go Daddy.

As reported before, Go Daddy says that they no longer supports SOPA. Reddit user benbread doubts that Go Daddy truly drops SOPA support. Now another hammer drops on Go Daddy’s real stance on SOPA.

From Reddit: Go Daddy has NOT withdrawn its official congressional support for SOPA as linked in Hacker News.

Go Daddy’s statement on no longer supporting SOPA is a damage control. A PR move to convince their customer from leaving. At this point based on what people had found, Go Daddy still supports SOPA just not publicly.

On the other hand, there is still this Protect IP Act we all have to worry about.

Go Daddy, you might find lump of coals in your stocking tonight.

Stopping the bleeding.

Previously on the Internet and real world:

Go Daddy’s announcement of dropping support SOPA is clearly a move to stop the bleeding. There will still be a lot of people moving their services away from Go Daddy. I apparently have one domain name for Google App registered through Go Daddy, not by choice. So who should I move it to?

UPDATE:
Magic Lantern Xmas Edition firmware is available here. It is available for 60D, 50D, 600D (T3i), 550D (T2i) and 500D (T1i).

Team Magic Lantern is bringing HDR video recording on select Canon DSLRs. This Magic Lantern firmware will be available for Canon 550D (T2i), 600D (T3i), and 60D DSLRs starting 2011-12-22 at 22:12 GMT. For my fellow Pacific Timers, that’s 1412 hours or 02:12 PM. Magic Lantern firmware can be downloaded here.

I have a Canon EOS 60D that I can install the firmware on.

The need for speed and space.

It has been more than a year since I first installed SSD on my MacBook Pro. I bought ADATA S599 SSD 128GB back in September 2010 and had to deal with the seemingly anemic storage space. Over the past 15 months I had been installing numerous brands of SandForce-based SSD’s on desktops and laptops; none of them disappoint.

Brands and models I have worked with among many:

I found myself needing more storage space on my MacBook Pro. That means I need a higher capacity SSD. The next logical step is to get a 240GB SSD which would give me enough storage space and still relatively affordable.

Well, it’s time for me to go shopping for SSD.
