Parasomnia

It is February 7, 2025 and Dream Theater new record “Parasomnia” is officially released. It is the first record by the band since their founding member and drummer who left in 2010, rejoined the band in 2023.

“There you go, Mike’s back replacing Mike who replaced the first Mike in the first place.”

With return of Portnoy in the band, this record is highly anticipated by fans. Three songs from the record were previously released:

  • Night Terror
  • A Broken Man
  • Midnight Messiah

The first single, Night Terror, showed a glimpsed of the reunion; which seemed to miss none of the beat in the last 14 years. The second and third single reaffirmed that sentiment.

Now the record is finally released, fans get to listen to the rest of the songs. For diehard Dream Theater fans, I recommend listening to the instrumental versions of the record, which is available in the Deluxe edition.

Piece of Mind, Painkiller, and Divine Intervention

On December 7, 2025 Iron Maiden shared the news of Nicko McBrains’s retirement from touring.

While perusing Iron Maiden’s catalogue, I started listening to these records one after another for a reason.

  • Piece of Mind by Iron Maiden (1983)
  • Painkiller by Judas Priest (1990)
  • Divine Intervention by Slayer (1994)

These three records have two things in common and they are:

  • The records opened with drums
  • Each record is the debut of a new drummer in the band

Kerry King – “From Hell I Rise”

Late last night I received an email containing the link to download Kerry King’s debut solo record “From Hell I rise”.

Just earlier today, Amazon delivered its exclusive Silver/Red Marbled Vinyl of the record.

Kerry King – “From Hell I Rise” record, Amazon Exclusive Vinyl.

I’ve listened to most of the songs prior to last night and the whole record obviously sounds familiar. I like SLAYER and I like this record too.

I also ordered a copy of the record direct from Kerry King’s official website. According to USPS, it is still en route.

…paragraph deleted because it sounds pretentious and pedantic. 😬

Anyway, I am looking forward to the next record from this lineup.

Showing No Mercy!

I preordered Slayer’s “Show No Mercy” 40th Anniversary Edition, Liquid “blood” filled vinyl directly from Metal Blade Records shop. It was priced at $199.99 + sales tax; and friend thought that I was crazy. I’m a huge fan of Slayer and it’s worth the price.

Shortly after the preorder was sold out, numerous posting on eBay priced this limited edition vinyl at $999.99 and supposedly sold out too. I do despise eBay scalpers. They shouldn’t be allowed to resell preorders.

Now that the actual product is delivered, the price has gone down to $800.00 and $699.00 on eBay.

Scalpers are profiting from true fans.
