Rants: Windows Vista Home Basic is a digital abortion!

I’m working on a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with Windows Vista Home Basic installed. According to Dell, this computer is not fully compatible with Windows 7. Come on! This computer was purchased in late 2008 and is not compatible with Windows 7? Does that mean Windows Vista has to stay? Windows Vista Home Basic is performing So poorly on this computer. The 3GB of RAM can not stop Windows Vista from dragging everything down.

I should try installing Windows XP or Windows 7 on this computer. The next thing I have to do is finding all the drivers myself.

When the clock strikes 3:30 in the AM Pacific Time, Apple Store Online went down for maintenance and updates. We all now know that Apple will be taking pre-orders for iPad on March 12th, 2010. Apple has set April 3rd, 1010 as the release date for iPad Wi-Fi only model, with the Wi-Fi+3G version to follow late April.

iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 4

Apple has just seeded iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 4 to Developers, while EFF disected and chastised iPhone Developer Agreement.

What’s new in the iPhone SDK 3.2 beta 4? I do not know yet, because I don’t have it. Must be more of the iPad related stuff.

As usual there’s this thing called NDA (Never Disrespect Apple) in effect, so no informations that I could gather at this time.

Amazon cancels Affiliate Programs in Colorado citing new Tax Regulations as the cause.

It is not the first time Amazon cancels their Affiliate programs in certain States due to new Tax Regulations. This time Amazon cancels the Affiliate Program in the State of Colorado. Previously Amazon canceled Affiliate Program in the State of North Carolina and Rhode Island. This means that Peter Griffin, Glen Quagmire and Joe Swanson are not eligible to participate in Amazon Affiliate Program.

From Amazon.com Associates Agreement:

In addition, if at any time following your enrollment in the Program you become a resident of Colorado, North Carolina or Rhode Island, you will become ineligible to participate in the Program, and this Operating Agreement will automatically terminate, on the date you establish residency in that state. In addition, you must promptly notify us in writing of your Colorado, North Carolina or Rhode Island residency, which you may do via the Contact Associates Customer Service form available here.

Starting June 1st, 2008  Amazon started collecting sales tax for any orders shipped within the State of New York. Amazon threatened to cancel Affiliate Program but opted to collect the sales tax. Amazon has filled a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the Tax Regulations.

The State of California is considering a bill that requires out-of-State online retailers to collect sales Tax for any fulfilment within the Sate of California. If and when such bill passed by California Government, Amazon has to reconsider its business strategy considering the large amount of sales generated by its Affiliate Programs.

Windows 7: File Deletion Bug.

I was moving a few files from a network drive to local hard-drive on a Windows 7 computer. For some odd reasons an error occured mid-transfer and Windows 7 deleted the files both on the network drive and local drive.

I managed to replicate the issue.

Still looking into this problem on Microsoft Support site and others.
