Mac App Store: iWork ’09 is still here.

At the launch of Mac App Store, the rumored iWork ’11 is nowhere to be found. Apple is still featuring iWork ’09 on Mac App Store.

It is interesting how Mac App Store automatically detects iWork ’09 installations on my MacBook Pro. Mac App Store also detects that iLife ’11 is installed. It is obvious that the application itself must be Mac App Store compatible so it would be detected when installed.

Angry Birds is available at Mac App Store.

Angry Birds is now available at the newly launched Mac App Store.

On Monday January 5th, 2011, Rovio mentioned in their blog that Angry Birds now available in the Intel AppUp center for netbooks and laptops. It was a little bit odd since there were no mentions of Mac version. Apparently they were a bit hush-hush about it and waited for the launch of Mac App Store today.

Angry Birds for Mac is $4.99, 50% off of its regular price. At least that’s what they said at Mac App Store.

Apple Remote Desktop 3.4 update is now available through Apple Support Downloads page.

UPDATE:
Apple Remote Desktop is also available on Mac App Store. Since I’ve installed the update through Software Update, I cannot tell if the already installed ARD could be updated through Mac App Store. I’ll try it on a different Mac later today.

Apple Remote Desktop 3.4 update appears after installing Mac OS X 10.6.6.

Will we see Mac OS X 10.6.6 today?

Thursday January 6th, 2011.

Mac App Store is scheduled to open today. Some sites are reporting that the Mac App Store will open at 12:00 PM Eastern Time or 5:00 PM UTC. As the zero hour draws near, it is unclear if Mac OS X 10.6.6 would be a required prerequisite for Macs to access the Mac App Store. According to some reports, Apple seeded Mac OS X 10.6.6 build 10J537 to Developers back in December 2nd, 2010.

We will see if Mac App Store requires Mac OS X 10.6.6 in 4 hours and 13 minutes from this original post time.

CES 2011: Windows Support for Silicon on a Chip Architectures.

Windows on ARM architectures, who would’ve guessed? Actually the rumor mills had been talking about it. Today Microsoft announces support of System on a Chip Architectures From Intel, AMD, and ARM for next version of Windows.

Next version of Windows? Do you mean Windows 8?
Microsoft have not officially called the next version of Windows as Windows 8 yet.

Is it anything new?
Not really. Windows NT kernel was ported to PPC and DEC-Alpha back in the 90’s. Actually it took Microsoft’s way too long to add suports for ARM architecture.

What’s next?
Steve Ballmer’s CES Keynote at 6:30 PM Pacific Time. CNET is covering it Live.
