Squared Up.

I’ve just finished setting up payment system for a local bakery using an iPod touch and Square. It is a small bakery that sells cookies, coffee and waffles. From time to time customers came in and asked if they could pay using credit card. Now they can take credit card.

Carrier IQ 2, The Quickening

It is inevitable for the Carrier IQ controversy dominating the headlines. This should be a bigger story than the overblown “Locationgate” story.

The Carrier IQ controversy has attracted the attention of Al Franken, US Senator from Minnesota; maybe he heard the page from applefanboy.com. Apple made a statement, saying that they have abandoned Carrier IQ with iOS 5 in most of their products. HTC say they don’t receive data from Carrier IQ. The story goes on and on.

Yes, you should be wearing your tin foil hat.

The Verge has great coverage on Carrier IQ controversy.

Tin Foil Hat Zone: Carrier IQ

Hot topic of this week: Carrier IQ

Grant Paul, who is also known as chpwn reports that Carrier IQ is in iOS.

  • Android fans should point to iOS fans and says: “Ha ha! You got it too.”
  • iOS fans should snicker at Android fans and say: “It doesn’t really do anything in our iOS devices.”
  • Windows Phone 7 should yell at Android and iOS fans: “Hey, we exist!”

Before we all jump to conclusion and start a rage against the answering machine, take all the news with a grain of salt.

The Verge is covering the Carrier IQ controversy and highly recommended for pre-rage reading.

Just remember to wear your tin foil hat for now.

Adobe Flash and HTML5.

The headline: “Adobe to cease Flash development for mobile browsers, refocus efforts on HTML5.”

Adobe confirms this.

I had a conversation with a cousin of a friend who turned out to be one of Adobe Senior Vice President. We had a brief conversation about tablets. He told me to get the one from Motorola or RIM instead of an iPad. The reason: Adobe Flash. I do not remember exactly when, but it was definitely sometimes in December 2010.

Flash forward (no pun intended) to November 9th, 2011 around 18:00 hour. I just got the confirmation for a meeting with this Adobe Senior Vice President a few weeks from today.

I would have a good 120 minutes to talk to him on multiple subjects. Now, what topics should I discuss with him?

Having fun with EasyPay at Apple Store.

I went to Apple Store earlier today to test out their newly rolled out EasyPay. The EasyPay requires Apple Store app with iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S.

I walked into Apple Store, South Coast Plaza and saw the little signs by the merchandize.

I then took my iPhone out and launched Apple Store app. Immediately it gave me the option to use EasyPay.

Unfortunately I really don’t have anything to buy at the Apple Store.

Well, the next time I really need to buy something from Apple Store I will use EasyScan, if possible. They don’t allow EasyPay to buy a MacBook Pro yet, for some obvious reasons.

To Apple Store, Boise Towne Square. Sorry for hogging your bandwidth.

I went to Apple Store, Boise Towne Square to download iOS 5 for my iPhone. I could try downloading iOS 5 through Virgin Mobile Mi-Fi or AT&T 3G, but it would be slow and seriously deplete my data quota. As I arrived, I immediately proceeded to download iOS 5 for the iPhone and iPad 2. While enjoying close to 5Mbps download, my colleague told me that he was having terrible Internet speed on other Mac in the store. Is it possible that I just hogged the bandwidth at the Apple Store? After finishing the download, my colleague told me that the Internet was usable again.

To Apple Store, Boise Towne Square, please accept my apology. I did really download iOS 5 for my iPhone and iPad 2.
