LogMeIn discontinues Ignition App, offers special discount to App owners.

As LogMeIn has announced earlier, starting January 21, 2014 LogMeIn Free is effectively discontinued. LogMeIn Free users have 7 days after logging in to their account.

From the F.A.Q.:

2. Q: When are you making this change?
A: Existing LogMeIn Free host computers remain accessible for seven days from first login after January 21, 2014. After that, LogMeIn Free will no longer be available. An account level Pro subscription will be required to keep remote access. You will receive further notification via email and in-product messages regarding this change. Log in at LogMeIn.com to see pricing details and a link to purchase.

LogMeIn has also pulled Ignition App from iTunes App Store and Google Play Store.

While your existing Ignition app will continue to work as it always has, it will no longer receive updates and bug fixes. However, you may switch to the new LogMeIn for iOS/Android app at any time. It’s free to download and will work with a Pro account.

LogMeIn is giving special offer to customers who purchased LogMeIn Ignition.

11. Q: What if I paid for the Ignition for iOS or Android app?
A: If you purchased the Ignition app, you will receive a special offer regarding an account-level subscription of LogMeIn Pro.

LogMeIn Ignition on iPad

LogMeIn Free will be discontinued starting January 21, 2014

LogMeIn announces that LogMeIn Free will be discontinued starting January 21, 2014.

After ten years, LogMeIn’s free remote access product, LogMeIn Free, is going away.  We will be unifying our portfolio of free and premium remote access products into a single offering.  This product will be a paid-only offering, and it will offer what we believe to be the best premium desktop, cloud and mobile access experience available on the market today. We will be notifying those impacted by the change in the coming days and weeks.  In the meantime, we wanted to take a minute to explain the change and help users of LogMeIn’s access products better understand what this means for them.

LogMeIn on iPad

For owners of LogMeIn Ignition for iPad/iPhone and LogMeIn Ignition for Android

While customers who purchased these apps are impacted by this change, we have taken steps to be especially attentive to these customers.  LogMeIn Ignition for iPad/iPhone and Android app purchasers will receive significant discounts, as well as generous terms to ease the transition.  Details of these offers are being sent to Ignition mobile users this week, both via email and in-product notifications.

LogMeIn Ignition is no longer available on iTunes App Store and Google Play Store.

You can read the F.A.Q. on this change.

It is a long time coming for LogMeIn to discontinue this free service. For more than ten years, LogMeIn has provided free alternative to its competitors. LogMeIn obviously sees the need to increase its profit margin.

I do use LogMeIn Free for some casual remote access. As of today, I have to decide whether I want to upgrade my LogMeIn account, go with LogMeIn competitors or find a free alternative.

Apple seeds iOS 7.1 beta 4

Should you be following the two-week release schedule between iOS beta builds, you could be telling people that iOS 7.1 beta 4 would be released on Tuesday, January 21, 2014. You could easily made up a “trusted source within Apple” who told you such news. Then again, Apple could easily release iOS 7.1 beta 4 one day earlier than the expected date.

Anyway, Apple indeed seeded iOS 7 beta 4 build 11D5134c on Monday, January 20, 2014; one day earlier than what some people expected and reported as news.

It seems the awesomeness of “Disable Background App Refresh” visual design is not a priority to change.

iOS 7.1 beta 4

Should Apple follow the two-week release schedule between iOS beta builds, expect iOS 7.1 beta 5 sometimes around February 3 or 4, 2014.

Fun with Products: What is this green frame?

Let’s have a little fun with products.

What could this green frame be?
(No need to answer this seemingly non-obvious rhetorical question.)
