WordPress 4.0 for iOS

Here comes WordPress 4.0 for iOS.

What’s New in Version 4.0

• Reimagined your stats view, which is now faster and more stable. Since we’re continuing to work on making this the best possible experience, the old web view is still available.
• Worked on an update in the Reader that allows videos to render properly.
• Fixed a bug in the Reader that addresses a blue dot display issue.
• Made improvements to prevent a crash when editing your longer posts.
• Various other fixes.

If you enjoy using WordPress, please take a moment to write a review — your input is invaluable to us.

Notice the polite request for App Review at the end of the release note?

One thing I did notice about WordPress for iOS is the lack of solicitation for App Store review. John Gruber has some great points.

Ookla Speedtest.net is now optimized for iPad. It offers an In-App Purchase to permanently remove the advertising; which I did purchase.

What’s New in Version 3.2.0

  • Universal app supporting iPhone, iPod touch and iPad (which includes landscape mode)
  • Speedometer now adjusts dynamically for high speed connections
  • Improved server selection user interface
  • Many performance optimizations and bug fixes

In case you don’t know it has one awesome easter egg.

(After a test, swipe down the speedometer. Each swipe will reveal the story.)

iOS 7.1 and Awesome Typography

One tiny thing that Apple iOS team did not care about is the “Disable Background App Refresh” button. They could set the text button in two lines, but they won’t.

iOS 7.1 Disable Background App Refresh Forced Typography

@JonyIveParody certainly took notice back in September 2013.

It looks even uglier more beautiful when “Button Shapes” is turned on.

iOS 7.1 update is a 1+ GB download.

iOS 7.1 beta was first seeded back in November 18, 2014. The fifth and the last iOS 7.1 beta was released on February 4, 2014. Notably, all builds of iOS 7.1 betas contain the SSL/goto fail vulnerability.

From Apple.com:

iOS 7.1 is packed with interface refinements, bug fixes, improvements, and new features. Apple CarPlay introduces a better way to use iPhone while driving. And you can now control exactly how long Siri listens and more. Getting the update is easy. Go to Settings. Select General. And tap Software Update.

Apple Seeds OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 build 13D12

As already reported by many sites, Apple seeds OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 build 12D12 to Developers.

OS X Mavericks Seed Update 10.9.3 build 13D12

Details of this seed is covered by Apple Developer NDA, but it didn’t stop any of the sites (1, 2, 3, 4, …) from mentioning them.

In the mean time, Apple Developers are anxiously waiting for the GM or release build of iOS 7.1, since the current build (beta 5) has the goto fail vulnerability.

When asked about the release date of iOS 7.1, firstname@apple.com simply said “soon.”
