Impersonal Setup

I wonder which Genius was the one did the Personal Setup for one particular customer. I saw the paperwork and it specifically said what the customer name and username should be. For some reason this “Genius” assigned “Owner” for the name of the account. To top it off, the customer was not given the password to access her own MacBook Pro.

I reset the “Owner” password using the Recovery System. Then I created an account with the proper name.

A Fool, Indeed.

The Motley Fool’s Evan Niu talked about the upcoming Macs that likely support  802.11ac Wi-Fi that offers theoretical maximum speed of 1000 Mbps.

From the article with link-bait title “Why Apple’s Upcoming Macs Will Go to Waste”:

That speed capability will go to waste, as the average American’s Internet speed is approximately 6 Mbps, according to Google’s (NASDAQ: GOOG  ) estimates.

Apparently Niu does not understand how Wi-Fi or Networking works in general. The 802.11g Wi-Fi standard offers theoretical maximum speed of 54 Mbps. That’s 9 times the said average American Internet speed. The 802.11n Wi-Fi has theoretical maximum speed of 300 Mbps; it is also a waste based on Niu’s non-logic. Niu might as well call all computers with Wi-Fi today have gone all to waste. That’s not counting ones 100 Mbps and Gigabit Ethernet.

Hey Evan, do you know that there’s such thing called Local Area Network?

Evan Niu is indeed a fool if not also stupid.

It is pretty obvious that Niu is trolling for page-hits by adding “Mac” in his article.

Here’s a link to the cached version of the article.

Star Trek Into Darkness hast just premiered and retailers are already taking pre-orders for the movie. For example, Amazon.com and iTunes are reminding customers that they can pre-order the movie even if they had not seen it in the theater.

Spoiler Free Rants about Star Trek Into Darkness

So here it is, the second Star Trek movie from J.J. Abrams and his team of writers. Just like its 2009 predecessor, it is an Action and Adventure movie in a Science-Fiction’s clothing. Think of Star Trek Into Darkness as combination of Transformers and Prometheus. Well, it is written by the people who penned Transformers and Prometheus. This movie is plagued with plot holes and lack of originality. The seemingly clever plot twists ruined the story telling. If you fancy lens-flares, then you would love Star Trek Into Darkness.

Tasteless and Despicable

Let me start by saying that spammers are despicable and tasteless, especially when they’re exploiting a tragedy such as the explosions at the Boston Marathon.

Spammers who want to spread malware are sinking to another low. Numbers of readers told us they’ve been getting spam with subjects contain: “explosion at Boston Marathon”

One of the addresses has been flagged by Google that it “may harm your computer.”

Bloomberg’s Bullpie Journalism, You’ve gotta be kidding me!

Yet another death knell for journalism as we know it.

From Bloomberg:

Apple’s Planned ‘IWatch’ Could Be More Profitable Than TV

Let’s see what’s wrong with this piece of bullpie journalism.

First, the Apple TV set which should not be confused with Apple TV, has been rumored since early 2000’s. All the fake spy-photos from Apple pre-Macworld keynote were circulating around like venereal diseases. Then the cry-wolf-poster-boy with initials “J.C.” was making up the whole Apple Television set rumor in mid 2000’s. The rumor has gone full swing since the release of Walter Isaacson’s Steve Jobs biography, saying that Jobs “finally cracked it.

Apple “accidentally” created a watch with the release of 6th generation iPod nano. As the first idea of iPod nano watchband was uttered, it became a hit. Rumors of Apple “smart watch” hit another high point as AppleInsider uncovered Apple’s patents that might be used in creating “iWatch”, a newly fabled Apple product.

Both Apple TV set and Apple iWatch are nothing but rumors; yet Bloomberg has the gall to run with the story. It’s all about imaginary products that could make imaginary revenues. All based on rumors.

Apple files a lot of patents and lots of them never made into real products. Lots of them take years before implemented into real products. Where’s the LCD Display has camera embedded in it?

What’s next?

The hypothetical Apple Car could make Apple a lot of hypothetical revenues?
