I was using the same makeshift light box technique to take pictures of snap-on beads.

Vondiggity asked me to photograph a few late antiquity coins of Roman origin. I used my MacBook Pro, an iPad and a piece of white paper to create a light box.
The results are not bad at all. The photos below were not re-touched other than 16 by 9 cropping and resizing.
