An Actual Amazon Sunday Delivery

I made a purchase on Amazon.com during the so called “Black Friday” two minutes to midnight while sitting on a couch somewhere in Sacramento, California. As an Amazon Prime Member, I chose 2-day shipping; Amazon promised a Monday delivery for a portion of my order. The other portion of the order was back-ordered.

To my surprise, I received a notification that my order was delivered on Sunday.

An Actual Amazon Sunday Delivery

I remembered that Amazon has just started the Sunday Delivery option to certain locations.

From Amazon Help:

Saturday and Sunday delivery is available for certain locations. Local Express can’t be used to ship to P.O. boxes, APO, FPO, or DPO addresses, but it is eligible for Guaranteed Accelerated Delivery.

USA Today reported that Amazon Sunday Delivery is made possible by a partnership by Amazon.com and the United States Postal Service. Amazon Sunday Delivery is currently available in the Los Angeles and New York metropolitan areas.

Amazon Prime Air

Amazon Prime Air, as seen on 60 Minutes.

We’re excited to share Prime Air — something the team has been working on in our next generation R&D lab.

The goal of this new delivery system is to get packages into customers’ hands in 30 minutes or less using unmanned aerial vehicles.

Putting Prime Air into commercial use will take some number of years as we advance the technology and wait for the necessary FAA rules and regulations.

In 60 Minutes interview, Jeff Bezos expect Amazon Prime Air to get clearance from FAA as early as 2015.

I very am excited with this service, especially if it is available where I live or work.

Polygon Rabbit

I was flying back from Sacramento International Airport (SMF) earlier today after an eventful Thanksgiving. One thing that always catch my eye on this airport is the giant Polygon Rabbit at Terminal B.

Thanksgiving, 2013

Thursday November 28, 2013 is Thanksgiving Day in the United States and a holiday. The day that is celebrating by consuming the flesh of some kind of bird that shared the name with a country in the Mediterranean. It marks the beginning of shopping-for-the-holiday season.

Oh wait, what is Thanksgiving about? I forgot.

Anyway to our Jewish Friends, Wednesday November 27, 2013 marks the start of Hanukkah.

The turkey is still in the fridge as of this hour (0234 hour). All 37prime staff are celebrating something this weekend in their own ways.

Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Thursday and Happy end-of-November weekend.
