Scam Calls: This is Amazon…

I’ve received scam calls from scammers pretending to be from Amazon.com:

“This is Amazon. This call is to authorize the payment of $799 for the recent order of iPhone 11 on your Amazon account. If you do not authorize this payment, please press one to speak to our customer support representative. Thank you.”

A number of people told me that they too received similar calls. Unfortunately, some of them fell for the scam and gave the scammer access to their computer.

The scammer insists on “verifying” your Amazon account or gave them access to your computer remotely.

Should you receive calls like these, do not panic, don’t forget to bring a towel…

Do not press anything to speak to the fake customer support, simply hang up.

You can always check your Amazon.com account for any activities.

One Last Day with Automatic

I bought my first Automatic Link-Auto OBD in 2013.

Six years and many days later, I am using Automatic for one more day. Today is the last day.

in 2017, Automatic Labs Inc. was acquired by SiriusXM and changed its business model.

Automatic will be shutting down its service at 11:59 pm, PT, on May 28, 2020.

Users can download personal information and driving data through June 28, 2020

For now I have not found any good alternative to Automatic service. Without getting into the details, I attest that Automatic Emergency Service did help me.

Refurbishing Old Computers

During this “Stay at Home” periods, I have been refurbishing/upgrading a lot of computers. Mostly for people who are now staying home for most of the days of the week.

As they are staying home a lot more than usual in addition to the need for video teleconferencing, they found out that their computers are not adequate for what they want and need to do.

I have been scouring for CPUs, RAMs and Graphics Cards to upgrade these computers. Replacing many Intel CPUs with their better counterparts. I also installed SSD in lieu of traditional spinning Hard Drives.

Most computers I had been refurbishing were so full of dusts. They then to isolate and trap heats in the computer, causing degradation of performance and excessive fan noise.

For each and every computer that I work on, I always make sure they are clean before I brought them back.

Vintage Kittens Photos

I’ve published some of these photos before and yet they are still worthy to be published again.

These photos were taken in May 2012.
