RMA for an SSD.

One of the ADATA S599 SSD‘s I’ve been using failed earlier this week. First there were performance degradations, then it had trouble accessing files. Soon after the computer would not boot with the SSD attached through the SATA Bus or External FireWire case.

I had contacted ADATA for RMA and will be sending it out this Monday morning.

Ferrari 308 quattrovalvole

A client showed me his 1984 Ferrari 308 quattrovalvole. He just finished restoring it and planning to find a new owner for it.

Edit: Finally get to pull the picture out of the phone.

Hackintosh Core i7

My colleague and I successfully built a Hackintosh Core i7. It took quite a while to get everything right. It also costs more than we originally expected. For now we are sticking with Snow Leopard.

Battle of the Fans: Patent Wars

The short story:

There’s Google with Android OS and there’s everybody else with everything else. Google’s Legal Counsel said that companies like Microsoft, Oracle and Apple are trying strangle Android over bogus patents. Microsoft’s Legal Counsel said that they asked Google to jointly bid for Novell patents, and Google said no. Google responded that it’s a trap.

The most interesting part of this Tech Soap Opera are the fans (for lack of better terms). For example, a post by John Gruber (a perceived Apple fanboy and an accused Google hater) was submitted to Hacker News. The post draws anti-Gruber comments regardless of the content. It shouldn’t be about Gruber; it should have been about Google, its competitors and patents.

There is an immediate need of Patent Law Reform.

In the meantime, fans of each faction are reposting the articles and tweets.

Subaru 360

I spotted a Subaru 360 earlier today. Now if only I could transfer the picture earlier.

Bad Capacitors on Motherboard.

I was working on a computer earlier today and found some bad capacitors on the motherboard. Bulging capacitors indicate problems. This motherboard is a goner.

Will add the picture later.
