An Eighty-Two-Year-Old purchased her first computer and it is an iPad.

An Eighty-Two-Year-Old walked into an Apple Store and within 20 minutes purchased her first computer, an iPad.

On Wednesday afternoon I called a nearby Apple Store inquiring the availability of the new iPad for my client. They had limited selections of iPad on hand and I was advised to visit the Apple Store as soon as possible. So I drove my client to the Apple Store and immediately greeted by an Apple Store employee. We waited for about 10 minutes for our turn. While waiting, my client decided to get the white iPad. Shortly after, an Apple Store employee named Tyler helped my client purchased an iPad 16 GB with Verizon 4G LTE.

She was really excited about the iPad, and she is treating it as her first computer ever. Initially she was having trouble getting used to with the touch screen due to her long nails. After an hour of use, she knows how to compose and send emails, browse the internet using Safari and taking pictures using the iPad camera.

It is pretty incredible to see someone who never used computer in her life now using an iPad.

Seriously, AOL?

AOL toolbar suggests users to disable “unwanted” toolbars.

How about this, uninstall all toolbars including AOL toolbar.

You can never win.

There’s a general assumption that the house always wins I’m not talking about a casino, but Microsoft Store. Forget about the “Smoked by Windows Phone” publicity stunt. There is no way any challengers could win because Microsoft keeps changing the boundary conditions and the rule.

Heads out to Skatter Tech and read the post titled I Won The Windows Phone Challenge, But Lost “Just Because”.

Shameless marketing ploy by Microsoft.

About that beeping noise.

If you are a Verizon FiOS customer and happen to hear beeping noise that is not coming form your smoke detector alarm, check your FiOS battery backup.

First you could reset the battery backup unit by unplugging the power and disconnecting the battery. If the “Replace Battery” light still on, then call Verizon customer service or technical support.

One more reason to avoid Facebook.

Ars Technica reports:

Facebook is trying to expand its trademark rights over the word “book” by adding the claim to a newly revised version of its “Statement of Rights and Responsibilities,” the agreement all users implicitly consent to by using or accessing Facebook.

The newly revised paragraph:

“You will not use our copyrights or trademarks (including Facebook, the Facebook and F Logos, FB, Face, Poke, Book and Wall), or any confusingly similar marks, except as expressly permitted by our Brand Usage Guidelines or with our prior written permission.”

Seriously, Facebook needs to go away before it asserts trademark on common words. At least more people should avoid Facebook.

One blurry in-flight Wi-Fi.

I flew US Airways to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Monday From Phoenix, Arizona. While boarding the Airbus A321 I noticed the  “Wi-Fi ONBOARD” sign by the door. I hastily took out my phone and snapped a picture. All I got is a blurry picture.

While still on the ground, I can see the “gogoinflight” Wi-Fi network, but it warned me that it is not available until the airplane is at least 10,000 feet in the air.

Anyway, when the airplane is more than 10,000 feet over the ground the I connected to “gogoinflight” Wi-Fi. I opened a web browser and it immediately prompted me to select a pass. There were different passes such as social networking, music, etc.

Anyway, in a relatively long flight I would definitely pay a few dollars to use the in-flight Wi-Fi.
