Odds and Ends with AT&T and the iPhone

Previously I wrote about the missing access to AT&T data network on my iPhone 3G. For some unknown reasons, a glitch on the system reset my AT&T subscriptions and dropped most of my services.

No Edge or 3G services, none of the text messaging either. The voicemail was also unavailable. After talking three AT&T customer service, I finally got my account reinstated.

I’ll post more details soon.

AT&T Data Network is Unavailable

I am not sure if it is related to the newly released iPhone Software 2.0.1, the iPhone can no longer connect to AT&T data network.

It was closed to midnight Pacific Time, both AT&T and Apple don’t have any customer supports available to troubleshoot the issue.

iPhone Software 2.0.1 is Available

Three weeks after the release, Apple updates iPhone Software 2.0 to address numbers of issues.

Details are a little bit sketchy at this moment, but it is expected for Apple to address the stability and performance issue regarding the iPhone Software.

The update is available through iTunes with iPhone/iPod touch plugged-in.

Another note of interest, that there are two different iPhone Software 2.0.1 for the iPhone and iPhone 3G.

iPhone Software 2.0.1 for iPhone 3G is labeled iPhone1,2_2.0.1_5B108_Restore.ipsw and weighs in at 249.1MB.

iPhone Software 2.0.1 for iPhone is labeled iPhone1,1_2.0.1_5B108_Restore.ipsw and weighs in at 242.3MB.

Anecdotally, the iPhone 3G running Software 2.0.1 feels a zippier.

Snow Leopard Retail Box

This is not a fake or a mock-up. This is “Snow Leopard” retail box.

This has nothing to do with Apple’s next operating system code-named “Snow Leopard” or anything like that. This has nothing to do with Mac OS X.

Although, you can use “Snow Leopard” to cool off any MacBook/MacBook Pro, or any notebooks/laptops.

Paul Thurrott Spews Garbage Again

As expected, Paul Thurrott the original Microsoft Defender spews garbage again on Microsoft P.R. Weekly a.k.a. Windows Weekly podcast episode 70 (yeah, it is podcast not necast, Leo Laporte).

Thurrott defends Microsoft’s pathetic attempt at damage control known as “Mojave Experiment.”

It seems that Leo Laporte is feeding Thurrott’s ego with some compromises about the propaganda. Thurrott is quick to dismiss all the problems with Microsoft’s “Mojave Experiment” propaganda. According to Mr. Microsoft Defender, “Mojave Experiment” is so effective in making people talking about Windows Vista again. Yeah, people are now talking about how stupid this “Mojave Experiment” propaganda is. Even John C. Dvorak, tech pundit/troll extraordinaire calls “Mojave Experiments” makes Microsoft humiliates ignorant users and itself.

In addition to the “Mojave Experiment” garbage, Thurrott subconsciously acknowledges that Microsoft has only been selling Windows Vista Licenses and not installed on computers. Of course Thurrott eludes to elaborate more regarding the sales numbers (Microsoft P.R./Windows Weekly 70 18:00 mark). Thurrott in the past has been quick to “disect” any statistics regarding non-Microsoft products such as Mozilla Firefox, the iPod and iPhone, Linux, Macs, Nintendo Wii, and Playstation 3.

Thurrott is so excited with Microsoft effort to strike back against Apple “Get A Mac” ads. Then again, Thurrott was so excited about the original Zune.

Paul Thurrott is nothing more than Microsoft P.R. in a Tech Journalist skin.

YouTube in iPhone’s Safari

Apparently Google has added a little code to YouTube to detect iPhone’s Safari browser. YouTube video link is now working on the iPhone’s Safari browser.
