OS X Yosemite Beta 1: Troubleshooting Download Issue

Install OS X Yosemite Beta icon

I managed to download OS X Yosemite Beta 1 in the early Thursday morning before AppleSeed site went offline. Later that day I heard reports that some people were having trouble downloading the installer. I later confirmed that I also did have trouble downloading the installer on my other Mac.

OS X Yosemite Beta 1 failed to download

Sometimes on Friday Morning, I still had trouble downloading the installer on that Mac. Interestingly, at the same I could download the installer on my primary MacBook Pro.

There is a possibility that it has soothing to do with Mac App Store cache.

Should you have trouble downloading OS X Yosemite Beta 1, try clearing up your Mac App Store cache.

Expect the same from OS X Yosemite Beta 1, bug-wise.

OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 4 build 14A298i is quite stable, but not without some serious bugs. With that in mind, it is highly recommended to install OS X Yosemite Beta on a secondary Mac or on its own partition/drive.

OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 2

Apple seeds OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 2 build 14A261i on Tuesday, June 17, 2014.

The first OS X Yosemite Developer Preview was too buggy for my 2010 MacBook Pro. The font doesn’t look right and I suspected that it was designed to look best on Retina Display. The support for NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M was pretty abysmal.

I have not had enough time using OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 2 to find out if it’s going to run well on older Macs. Time will tell.

The Swift Programming Language

I am really excited about Swift Programming Language that was introduced at WWDC 2014. I have downloaded the book from iBooks Store.

The Swift Ptogramming Language on iBooks

I learned C and C++ back in college and actually became a T.A. for two semesters teaching them. After a while I was bored with programming until recently, doing web-programming with PHP and CSS. I have had a few ideas and prototypes of iOS Apps but none of them was ever finished. Swift Programming Language has brought some sparks back in me to get back into programming again.

So You want to install OS X Yosemite Beta
