Apple Developer Maintenance 20130720

John Gruber thinks that it is bad news since Apple Store was also down.

Apple Store Maintenance 20130720

Obviously his spidey sense is either off or he doesn’t have one at all; John Gruber is not Peter Parker. Apple Store went back online right after Midnight on Sunday July 21, 2013.

During this period, Apple ID site is still working without interruptions.

Apple is expected to release iOS 7 beta 4 and OS X Mavericks Developer Preview 4 on Monday July 22, 2013; based on two week release schedule. Apparently many sites are reporting the obvious as news.

At this point our Apple contacts are either saying nothing or unreachable (out of the country).

OS X Mavericks

OS X Mavericks is coming Fall 2013. Developer beta of the next major release of OS X is available to Apple Developers.

From Apple Press Release:

Additional features in OS X Mavericks include:

  • iCloud Keychain®, which safely stores your website login information, credit card numbers and Wi-Fi passwords, and pushes them to all of your devices so you don’t need to remember them. Information is always protected with AES-256 encryption when it’s stored on your Mac and when it’s pushed to your devices;
  • an updated Calendar, which adds integration with Maps, continuous scrolling so you can zip through weeks or months, and a new Inspector to simplify event creation and editing;
  • interactive Notifications, allowing you to reply to a message, respond to a FaceTime® call or even delete an email without leaving the app you’re using. Websites can now use notifications to keep you up to date on the latest news, scores and other information. While You Were Away Notifications make sure you see what happened while your Mac was asleep; and
  • Xcode® 5, with powerful, intuitive new tools for developers that measure every aspect of app performance and energy use, as well as app testing.

OS X Mavericks

OS X Mavericks is named after Mavericks, a surfing spot in Northern California.

Apple WWDC 2013, Live Keynote Coverage Links

wwdc13-about-main

Apple WWDC 2013 Keynote is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. June 10, 2013. The Keynote is expected to last 2 hours, at least that’s what on the schedule.

UPDATE:
Apple is streaming WWDC Keynote on Apple Web Site.
Apple will be live-streaming WWDC 2013 Keynote on Apple TV. Registered Developers should download WWDC App.

As usual there will be a lot of sites covering the Keynote live. Links will added as they become available.

Laugh and a half.

Apple rumors are gearing up as we approached June 11th, 2012 for WWDC. Someone had the idea to circulate rumor about “Retina Display” on MacBook Pro. I asked my trusted source, firstnameatappledotcom about this particular rumor. The answer I got:

Maybe you’re sitting too close to the screen.

Followed with cryptic laugh and a half.

Apple will still sell new MacBook Pros with “non-Retina Display” after WWDC 2012. If there were such things as “Retina Display” MacBook Pros, it would be a build to order option or a higher end model.
