iPhone OS 3.0 is Officially Released

June 17th, 2009 (U.S. date – June 18th in some other countries.)

iPhone OS 3.0 Software Update

Apple release iPhone OS 3.0 for iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPod touch (1st and 2nd gen). iPhone OS 3.0 is available at no extra cost for the iPhone and iPhone 3G, while it costs $9.95 for the iPod touch.

To obtain iPhone OS 3.0 for iPhone:

  • Install iTunes 8.2 (minimum requirement), download it from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
  • Connect the iPhone/iPhone 3G to the computer and launch iTunes.
  • Sync your iPhone/iPhone 3G, this way iTunes will backup your files.
  • Import all photo from iPhone/iPhone 3G using iPhoto/Image Capture/Aperture or Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard.
  • Select the iPhone/iPhone 3G and click on “Check for Update”
  • iTunes will automatically download iPhone OS 3.0 and start the installation.

WWDC 2009: iPhone 3G S

Apple introduces iPhone 3G S with support for the 7.2Mbps HSDPA network.

iPhone 3G S features:

Apple Releases iTunes 8.2 and QuickTime 7.6.2

One week ahead of Worldwide Developer Conference 2009, Apple releases iTunes 8.2 and QuickTime 7.6.2.

iTunes 8.2 and QuickTime 7.6.2 are available for Mac OS X (Tiger and Leopard) and Windows (XP and Vista).

Early preview version of iTunes 8.2 was required to install iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 4 and Beta 5. Since then, no new iPhone OS 3.0 Beta has been released. It is estimated that iPhones OS 3.0 Beta 5 would expire sometimes late June 2009. That means a new build of iPhone OS 3.0 should be release in the near future. Possibly to coincide with WWDC 2009. The shipping version of iPhone OS 3.0 is expected to be released in mid-July along with the new iPhone hardware(s).

Windows Vista Service Pack 2 is Available for Download.

Microsoft released Windows Vista Service Pack 2 on Tuesday May 26th, 2009. The Service Pack 2 is for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, 32-bit and 64-bit version.

It is now available through Windows Update or Microsoft Download Center.
