Sweet LTE

A few days before iPad (third generation) went on sale I decided to get one with LTE on Verizon, I like the ability to use it as a hotspot. Just a few days ago I had to rely on the iPad hotspot to get online. It was a career saver. I managed to do my job and impressed the clients. I have been getting great network speed on Verizon LTE.

iPad with Verizon LTE Speed Test, Miami edition.

I am in Miami, Florida on assignment. Being here and the nature of the assignment remind me of RENO: 911!: Miami movie. Anyway, I am brining an iPad with Verizon LTE enabled. I did a few speed test and the screenshot below pretty much sums it all up. 15.96 Mbps down and 2.40 Mbps up.

Carrier Settings Update for iPad LTE

I plugged in the iPad (4G LTE Verizon) a few minutes ago and it prompted me to update the carrier settings. I only have the Verizon version; does anyone with AT&T version get this update also?

I’m not sure when it was released, but it was packaged on April 2nd, 2012.

About that beeping noise.

If you are a Verizon FiOS customer and happen to hear beeping noise that is not coming form your smoke detector alarm, check your FiOS battery backup.

First you could reset the battery backup unit by unplugging the power and disconnecting the battery. If the “Replace Battery” light still on, then call Verizon customer service or technical support.

One reason to choose Verizon 4G LTE: Mobile Hot Spot.

If I were to get an iPad with 4G LTE, I’d get the one on Verizon network. That’s because Verizon includes Mobile Hot Spot into the plan.

From Verizon Wireless iPad page:

Mobile Hot Spot Support For The New iPad.
Verizon is the only carrier in the U.S. that allows the new iPad Wi-Fi + 4G to act as a personal mobile hotspot. This means you can share your Verizon 4G LTE network with up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices (such as a computer, gaming device or camera). And the best part? This personal hotspot is available at no extra charge and simply uses your data allowance.

Dear AT&T, I am not buying one for your 4G LTE network.

With this kind of download speed…

Dear Verizon,

As of today you are the only Internet provider in this particular area, yet you’re only offering a sub-standard DSL service. The contract says that it is a “high speed Internet” up to 1 Mbps downstream. So what cause the downstream speed to be so abysmal? A 64 Kbps is far from 1 Mbps. Well, at least you’re sending some technician to come on Friday.

Not Anymore, You AT&T!

AT&T needs to update some of its Terms and Conditions. The last time I checked, AT&T is no longer Apple’s exclusive carrier partner for iPhone in the United States. Back in January 11th, 2011 Apple announced that iPhone 4 was coming to Verizon. iPhone 4 then made its official debut on Verizon network on February 10th, 2011.
