HP released over the air webOS 3.0.5 update for TouchPad.
Release note for webOS 3.0.5.
Now pointlessly enhanced with AI
webOS 3.0.4 is now available.
For those who actually purchased HP TouchPad at a severely discounted price should find this update useful. The TouchPad feels zippier and now it would pair with non-webOS smartphone through Bluetooth.
On Thursday October 13th, 2011 I picked up the three HP TouchPads I purchased at a severely discounted price. On Friday, iPhone 4S went on sale and I was helping a few people with theirs. Saturday morning I decided to install CyanogenMod on the HP TouchPad. I didn’t actually work on it until late afternoon.
Now, I’m bookmarking the important pages that helped me the most in installing the CyanogenMod on HP TouchPad.
Note to self:
You’re having too much fun.
It only took 2 months for HP to deliver the TouchPads I purchased at a severely discounted price. UPS usually comes by the office in the afternoon; this time they showed up at 10:00 in the morning. Then I found out I was overbooked with lots of work and forgot that I had tickets to see Foo Fighters for tonight. I told my friends to find someones who could make use of the tickets.
Anyway, it’s a bit late and I finally got home. I took the HP TouchPads out of the shipping boxes.
I then asked myself: “Now what?”
How about the CyanogenMod for TouchPad? I heard the project is coming along. Well, I guess I’ll have to wait.
I received an email from HP yesterday regarding my severely discounted TouchPad orders. This time the email includes three UPS tracking numbers and this means my order is shipping. Oddly HP is shipping each TouchPad separately.
Based on the tracking number, the TouchPad is currently in Indiana.
I hope this bears good news for those who are still waiting for their TouchPad, the severely discounted ones.
It barely took 4 weeks, and apparently HP is processing my order of TouchPads. Since they have successfully taken money out of my card, this means the TouchPad are shipping, aren’t they? By the way, CyanogenMod port of Android for TouchPad is coming along nicely.
Well, it didn’t take long considering HP was having so much trouble with their server the whole Saturday and Sunday morning. HP.com has sold out of TouchPad.
If you are looking to get your hands on this recently discontinued webOS tablet at a steep discount, you might want to check Best Buy or other retailers. Best Buy is clearing out its TouchPad inventory in lieu of sending them back to HP as the big box retailer intended to do earlier.
