Just a few years ago, setting up a new computer for either yourself or others was a chore. It is still a chore, but easier. Thanks to sync services provided by Apple, Google and Mozilla; moving browsers’ settings and bookmarks are no longer difficult.
Apple has iCloud, Google has Chrome Sync and Mozilla has Firefox Sync. You get to move your Bookmarks and Passwords with ease.
Sad news everyone. Xmarks sync services will shut down on January 10, 2011.
For those who enjoy the Xmarks service should read the blog post and do something about it. It is really tough to provide services for free. It is good for the users in the beginning, but in the long run there’s still no lights visible at the far end of the tunnel.
Hey Apple or Google, one of you should acquire Xmarks pronto!
Google has been busy today with the release of Picasa 3.5 and Google Sync with push Gmail.
Google has just added push support into Google Sync. Google Sync supports BlackBerry, iPhone, Nokia S60, Windows Mobile and other phones. iPhone users now can have push Gmailon their phones.
Google Sync uses Microsoft Exchange Active Sync Protocol. iPhone can only have one Exchange ActiveSync account configured.
Today Google also releases Picassa 3.5 with name tags.
