System Recovery on an HP Computer

HP System Recovery

Two hours into System Recovery on an HP computer, a few more hours to go.

I had to order the Windows 8 recovery media from HP which consists of five DVDs. If only HP would let customer to download the System Recovery disk images for those who have the bandwidth.

Whither, HP?

HP Art Thou,

From HP Press Release:

HP To Separate Into Two New Industry-Leading Public Companies

Hewlett-Packard Enterprise will define the next generation of technology infrastructure, software and services for the New Style of IT

HP Inc. will be the leading personal systems and printing company delivering innovations that will empower people to create, interact and inspire like never before

It is not entirely a surprise for HP to spin-off its PC and Printer divisions. Back in 2011, then HP CEO Leo Apotheker was looking into selling off its PC unit. After appointing Meg Whitman as CEO, HP announced that it would keep its PC Division.

HP Computers and Printers are still selling, but does it really give HP good profit margins. Of course, its lucrative printer in business is still profitable; but for how long?

Hard-Disk Drive Failure

This definitely has “You’re Screwed” written all over it, especially if you’re in the middle of something important.

Hard-Disk Drive Failure

The computer suddenly rebooted and display the message:

“Hard-disk drive failure”

You can only hope the backup system really works.

Sony to Sell VAIO Division, Exit PC Business.

From Sony Press Release:

Sony and Japan Industrial Partners Inc. (“JIP”) today concluded a memorandum of understanding confirming the parties’ intent for Sony to sell to JIP Sony’s PC business currently operated under the VAIO brand.

Sony-sells-VAIO-Divison

I just had the conversation about Sony VAIO computers last night. I almost bought a Sony VAIO PC as my first computer ever back in college. Throughout the years I owned two high-end Sony VAIO notebook computers, before I bought the first MacBook Pro in 2006.

In recent news, it was revealed that Steve Jobs offered Sony to run Mac OS on VAIO computers.

Apple’s Juvenile Behavior and Microsoft’s Admissions

What if you have a lot of things to say about certain ad campaign, but don’t really want to talk about it?

Is Microsoft’s ad campaign any effective? If you’re Paul Thurrott, then you’d jump up and down to celebrate. The point is that Microsoft wants people to talk about it. Sure that Microsoft is copying John Hodgman’s character from Apple’s “Get A Mac” ads. Effectively Microsoft admits that Apple’s juvenile “accusation” is true.

Does anyone still remember the what Apple said back in 2006?

Seriously, someone or some giant software company fell into a trap.
