OS X Troubleshooting: Alfred App and Finder

OS X with Alfred App installed

Symptoms:

  • No icons on Desktop
  • Right click on Mouse are not registered

Troubleshooting steps:

  • Create new user account
  • Verify if symptoms are not present in user account

Fix:

  • Delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.alfredapp.Alfred.plist
  • Delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
  • Log off or restart Finder process

Software Updates: Handbrake and VLC

Handbrake 0.9.8

We’ve decided to push out another release to fix some bugs that cropped up with 0.9.7. This includes all the previous fixes for 0.9.6 including the new AppleTV3 preset and updated iPad preset.

VLC 2.0.3

VideoLAN and the VLC development are proud to present a minor update adding support for OS X Mountain Lion as well as improving VLC’s overall stability on OS X. Additionally, this version includes updates for 18 translations and adds support for Uzbek and Marathi. For MS Windows, VLC 2.0.2 remains the latest release.

The Week that kinda never was.

The 4th of July falls on Wednesday this year and that means a lot of people actually taking the whole week off. This certainly affects how things are in the United States. One thing I can say is that this week has not been a busy week.

I managed to get things done here at the office. Reinstalling OS X Lion and Windows 7 on various computers.

I am looking forward to the 4th of July celebration with good friends and my camera. I hope to take a lot of pictures.

Come Thursday, we all will try to get back to our regularly scheduled working life.
