Armed with a Nexus One and a MacBook Pro, I was able to bring Internet connection back to the office earlier today. On Thursday, we lost both Internet and phone service. We have contacted our service provider to resolve the issue. Both Internet and phone were still down on Friday. So I used my Nexus One to create Wi-Fi hotspot and connected my MacBook Pro to it. Then I shared the Internet Connection from the Wi-Fi through the Ethernet to the office router. We managed to survive the day.
Gingerbread 2.3.6 update for Nexus One.
Gingerbread 2.3.6 update notification popped up on my Nexus One last night. Well to be honest, I am not sure when the notification arrived since I had not used the Nexus One for more than a week. According to the message on the Nexus One:
This OTA update will upgrade your device to Gingerbread 2.3.6. It contains important bug fixes and security updates.
Initially I was not able to update the phone because the internal storage was somewhat full. I had to move some applications to the SD card and uninstall some of them.
A quick query on Google, apparently some Nexus One owners are getting the update within the past week.
What Data Breach? I have Nexus One.
Google is reportedly moving to patch a Wi-Fi Data Leak in Android. Android devices running Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread are not affected with the exception of Picasa http request.
To my recollection, there are less than a handful of Android devices running version 2.3.4 (and above) including Nexus One, Nexus S and Nexus S 4G. The upcoming Motorola Droid X2 will come with Android 2.2 Froyo.
Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 for Nexus One.
I had the Nexus One off most of Tuesday evening. I turned it on 20 minutes ago and saw the update notification.
I was hoping for some new features for the Nexus One, unfortunately those new features are available only for Nexus S.
Speaking of which, I am using numbers of phones on AT&T network including an iPhone and Nexus One. I was thinking about getting a Nexus S and found out that there’s one that is compatible with AT&T network.
Woohoo! Installing Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread on My Nexus One.
After a seemingly long wait that is actually a long wait I finally got the notification: Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread Over The Air update on my Nexus One.
After 43.6 MB of download later, my Nexus One started the installation.
- Android version: 2.3.3
- Build number: GRI40
The timing is pretty impecable as Apple has just released iOS 4.3 GM to Developers.
Nexus One Wi-Fi hotspot to the rescue, again.
Android 2.2.2 FRG83G for Nexus One.
I received an email from a colleague late last night:
Weird, my phone updated to 2.2.2 frg83g.
He is referring to his Nexus One receiving Froyo 2.2.2 OTA update. I have a Nexus One also, but I have yet received the Froyo 2.2.2 OTA update. As a matter of fact I’m anticipating Gingerbread 2.3 to be delivered to Nexus One based on the tweet by @googlenexus back in December 20th, 2010. One month in, and still no news about Gingerbread for Nexus One.
I could install a custom Android 2.3 firmware, but I am waiting for the official version.
