Apple Developer Friday: Mac OS X 10.6.8 beta and Lion Developer Preview 3.

Numbers of Apple-centric site really know the art of ignoring acronyms and abbreviations. Apparently Mac OS X 10.6.8 beta and Lion Developer Preview 3 are now available for Apple Developers who agreed to the NDA.

Solely based on the postings by fine sites such as AppleInsider, MacNN, MacRumors, TUAW and 9 to 5 Mac; I now know that Apple is seeding Mac OS X 10.6.8 beta and Lion Developer Preview 3. I wonder why John Gruber of Daring Fireball doesn’t know anything about it; instead he is selling his own swag. How dare he!

Anyway, I’m going back to my MacBook Pro Core Duo.

Latest Google Chrome Update Crashing in Mac OS X Lion.

Some people are reporting that the latest update to Google Chrome cause the program crashing in Mac OS X Lion. Some accounted that all latest release, beta and developer versions of Google Chrome are crashing in Mac OS X Lion. It is unclear what changes in Google Chrome caused the issue, but some also pointed out the problem can be averted by disabling extensions when using the release and beta versions.

Dropbox and Mac OS X Lion Developer Preview 2.

From Dropbox forum:

This version causes crashes in the latests developer preview of Lion. If you are using a developer preview we advise against running this version. We’re working on a solution. Thanks.

Previously, Dropbox can be used with Mac OS X Lion Developer Preview (1) by changing the CFBundleVersion to 2.0. Apple Engineers warned that Mac OS X Lion blocked Dropbox from running due to some technical issue. Even though the modified Dropbox could run on Mac OS X Lion DP, it crashes the Finder.

Dropbox Engineers are aware of this issue.

WWDC 2011 is set for June 6-10, 2011.

Apple has set Worldwide Developer Conference date on June 6 through 10, 2011.

Apple has sold out all the $1599 WWDC 2011 tickets in record 10 hours.

To quote Phil Schiller:

“At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.

Some interpret that iOS 5.0 will be previewed during WWDC 2011 but not the next iPhone hardware.

We first heard the news about iPhone 5 back in March 19th and immediately tweeted:

March 19th, 2011
There will be no #iPhone5 announcement at #Apple #WWDC 2011. It is all about Mac OS X Lion. September 2011 for iPhone 5 in time for Holiday.

Our source told us that WWDC 2011 was about Mac OS X Lion and there would be no “the next iPhone” hardware announcement. Our source hinted that there will be iPhone just in time for the holiday. We assume the announcement would come around September 2011. We are confident that our source who is definitely not Phil Schiller gave us a pretty accurate information.
