iPhone App: Enter Metallica.

Metallica has invaded iTunes App store with two officially sanctioned apps. Lars Ulrich needs more money to get his gold-plated shark tank installed next to his pool.

From Metallica Mailing List:

Finally, everyone who purchases Tap Tap Revenge: Metallica will be entered to win cool stuff, including the grand prize of a trip to Las Vegas for the show there on December 5, including airfare, hotel, tickets (duh!) and meet and greet passes. Click here for more info about the contest.

Tap Tap Revenge: Metallica is priced at $4.99 at U.S. iTunes App Store.

The second Metallica sanctioned app is Live Metallica app (Metallica news item).

In our ongoing efforts to be of service and give you as many options as possible in the digital era, we asked the brainiacs that help us out with LiveMetallica.com to come up with a super cool iPhone application that creates a streaming interface to your LiveMetallica account. In non-tech talk, that means that any show you have downloaded from the site will automatically stream to your iPhone once you launch the $.99 app. And the bonus is that the latest show on the site will always be streaming for free!

AT&T allows VoIP on 3G for the iPhone.

It’s like the day that would never come but we knew that it would someday. AT&T has just releases a statement that they will allow Voice over IP (VoIP) on their 3G network for the iPhone.

This means the next version of Skype iPhone App will be able to make voice calls when it’s on the 3G network in addition to the Wi-Fi network.

Read the Press Release here.

AT&T today announced it has taken the steps necessary so that Apple can enable VoIP applications on iPhone to run on AT&T’s wireless network. Previously, VoIP applications on iPhone were enabled for Wi-Fi connectivity. For some time, AT&T has offered a variety of other wireless devices that enable VoIP applications on 3G, 2G and Wi-Fi networks. AT&T this afternoon informed Apple Inc. and the FCC of its decision.

There’s no word about Google Voice and SlingPlayer type service yet.

Previously AT&T prohibited VoIP apps such as Skype to make audio calls on the 3G network.

Telemarketer Text Spam from (562) 453-8906.

When you thought that those Telemarketer phonecalls were annoying, now they are sending you text messages to your phones. It doesn’t matter if you’re on the do-not-call list because they actually never called you; they just texted you.

562-453-8906

The latest one that came to my phone is from (562) 453-8906 and it says:

(insert web-site here) Is your mortgage payment too expensive? Our Loan Modification program can lower your payments immediately. May we please give you a call?

A query on Google reveals that a lot of people have received such text message with different Web-Addresses attached.

If you received such text messages, file a complaint to FCC (http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm).

Select the options in the following sequence:

  • Wireless Telephone
  • Telemarketing calls (including Do-Not-Call), prerecorded messages and unsolicited commercial emails received on a wireless phone
