Apple Developer Center is still under maintenance

Apple Developer Center front page is still up while member center has been under maintenance since late Thursday July 19, 2013.

The message says:

We’ll be back soon.

We apologize that maintenance is taking longer than expected.
If your program membership was set to expire during this period, it has been extended and your app will remain on the App Store. If you have any other concerns about your account, please contact us.

Thank you for your patience.

John Gruber thinks that it is bad news since Apple Store was also down.

Obviously his spidey sense is either off or he doesn’t have one at all; John Gruber is not Peter Parker. Apple Store went back online right after Midnight on Sunday July 21, 2013.

During this period, Apple ID site is still working without interruptions.

Apple is expected to release iOS 7 beta 4 and OS X Mavericks Developer Preview 4 on Monday July 22, 2013; based on two week release schedule. Apparently many sites are reporting the obvious as news.

At this point our Apple contacts are either saying nothing or unreachable (out of the country).

So you want to install iOS 7 beta on your iPhone.

So you want to install iOS 7 beta on your iPhone. Here are some advise I can give you:

  • Are you an Apple Developer?
    Just because you paid the $99 Apple Developer fee, does not make you an Apple Developer.
    If the answer is “no” then do not install iOS 7 beta on your iPhone.
  • Please do not go to any sites who would give you access to iOS 7 beta by giving them your UDID and some money.
  • Do you have an iPhone (or iPod touch) that you can sacrifice?
    If you do, then go ahead. If you don’t, then proceed with extreme caution.
  • Read the release notes and instructions.
  • Do not post the “iOS 7 beta is so buggy” message on the Apple Developer Forums.
  • Do not post the “Will Apple ever fix this bug?” message on Apple Developer Forums.
    <sarc>Apple will never fix those bugs!</sarc>
  • Be aware that you might not be able to downgrade to iOS 6.

About the next iOS and iPhone

After reading John Gruber’s The Latest Apple Scuttlebutt, I would like to add a few cents into the open discussion.

  • Since Jony Ive took over the Human Interface division back in October 2012, Apple designers and  engineers have been steadily working on the upcoming and presumably named iOS 7. According to firstname@apple.com, a lot them have been putting extra hours working on the next iOS.
  • Key Apple employees have not been home longer than they had before; overseeing production of presumably new Apple products. The angry spouses don’t even know what they are working on.

I’d really would like to emphasize the “angry spouses” part.
