About the update

Mail Update for Mavericks includes improvements to general stability and compatibility with Gmail, including the following:

  • Fixes an issue that prevents deleting, moving, and archiving messages for users with custom Gmail settings
  • Addresses an issue that may cause unread counts to be inaccurate
  • Includes additional fixes that improve the compatibility and stability of Mail

One thing that I noticed the first time I used Mail on an early OS X Mavericks Developer Preview builds with Gmail:

  • Mail displays the contents of “All Mail” folder in the “Archive” section
  • Mail displays the contents of “Spam” folder in the “Junk” section.

Yahoo! adds IMAP supports to Small Business email.

I posted a rant on my personal WordPress page on Tuesday about staying away from POP-Mail. Having to deal with a client with 14,000 emails on his Yahoo! Small Business email, I was planning to move their email services to Google Apps.

To my surprise, Yahoo Small Biz Team (@YSmallBizCare) commented on my rant.

Hi, sorry to hear you’ve had trouble with your Yahoo! services.

We thought you might like to know that due to recent upgrades, Yahoo!’s New Small Business Mail now supports IMAP configuration.

Please contact us anytime at http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/contactus for assistance getting this setup.

That certainly solved the one problem I was dealing with for the past few days. I immediately added the IMAP settings (imap.mail.yahoo.com Port 993 with SSL) for the client.

If you are using Yahoo! Small Business Mail, you really wants to read this help page.

Thank You, Yahoo Small Biz Team.

Apple .Mac IMAP Unavailable

Honestly, I don’t know what is really going on right now. Apple .Mac IMAP has been having problem the whole day. First the SSL connection was refused, and now all IMAP are down. I couldn’t even access .Mac mail through the webmail interface.

I can only hope that Apple is revamping .Mac for the better right now as many of the so called “tech-journalist/analyst” has been saying for the past weeks.

I want to keep the @mac.com email, don’t change it to something stupid like @mobileme.com or even @me.com as rumored.

All I can say based on the information given by the completely made-up and imaginary source who is allegedly working at Apple Cupertino office:

“Great things are coming along. Some of your wishes are coming true. In addition to that, expect great changes in the Apple ecosystem. iPhone, iPhone, iPhone, and Mac.”

OK, I’m sold. Now I want the new iPhone in my hand no later than June 29th, 2008.
