Pump-and-Dump Scammer is still at it.

Pump-and-Dump-Spam.jpg

Within the last 150 minutes, our spam filter caught more than 40 Pump-and-Dump email spam; the same ones from April 11, 2017.

Pump-and-Dump email spam typically comes in waves with randomly generated sender names. It is really easy to spot as it promises the potential collaborating-victim a quick scheme to make money. Based on our statistics, the scammer sends the email spam with two different subject lines and contents each day. If you happened to receive this kind of email spam, you would see multiple emails from different senders with the same exact subject line and content. They are really easy to spot.

You can help fighting the spammer by using services such as SpamCop.net.

Seems Legit: App Store Support Spam

Yet another round of spam purporting from “App Store Support” or “App Store Team”, complete with graphics directly linked from Apple’s own server.

Based on a few reports, this type of spam started making the round on Thursday, October 8, 2015. Anecdotally, all the reports come from users with mac.com emails.

Should you be getting this type of spam in your iCloud email, please forward the email as attachment to spam@icloud.com

Inbox by Gmail

Inbox-by-Gmail

Inbox by Gmail:

Inbox by Gmail requires an invite. Email inbox@google.com to request one.

Your email inbox should help you live and work better, but instead it often buries the important stuff and creates more stress than it relieves. Inbox, built by the Gmail team, keeps things organized and helps you get back to what matters.

  • BUNDLES – Similar messages are bundled together so you can deal with them all at once. And get rid of them with one tap.
  • HIGHLIGHTS – Get the most important information without even opening the message. Check-in for flights, see shipping information for purchases, and view photos from friends right up front.
  • REMINDERS: More than mail, you can add Reminders so your inbox contains all the things you need to get back to.
  • SNOOZE: Snooze emails and Reminders to come back when you are ready to deal with them: next week, when you get home, or whenever you choose.
  • SEARCH: Inbox helps you find exactly what you’re looking for— from your upcoming flight to a friend’s address— without having to dig through messages.
  • WORKS WITH GMAIL: Inbox is built by the Gmail team, so all your messages from Gmail are here, along with the reliability and spam protection of Gmail. All of your messages are still in Gmail and always will be.

Inbox by Gmail is available for Android and iOS.

Yes, it is working with Gmail only and currently requires an invite.

Requesting Invitation for Google Inbox

I am really intrigued by Google’s attempt to redefine what email is. At the same time I am curious what Google get from out of this. I use Google Apps for my email services and Google Domains for my personal domain. Haven’t I even Google enough pieces of myself?

By the way, I have a few Google Domains invite left.

iOS 7: “Unread” Mailbox

One feature that I should have used before is the “Unread” Mailbox in iOS. I did not even think about it until iOS 7 is released.

To enable the “Unread” Mailbox in iOS Mail App, go to Mailboxes and tap on “Edit”.

Scam Alert: Fake WhatsApp Messages

The scammers keep trying to fool anyone by blindly sending messages to unsuspecting victims. I’ve been getting a lot of reports from acquaintances that they received similar scam email in the past few days.

First off, I always keep an eye for this type of scam emails. Second, I don’t use WhatsApp.

If you’re an iCloud user, forward this message as attachment to spam@icloud.com.

I also use a service called SpamCop at SpamCop.net. If you feel compelled to use their service, please donate if you can.

Thunderbird 24.1.1

Thunderbird 24.1.1 is now available.

Thunderbird 24.1.1

I received this update sometimes on Thursday November 22, 2013.

I used Thunderbird because OS X Mavericks Mail and Gmail were not fully “communicating” with each other. With the latest  Mail Update for Mavericks, the issue has been resolved. I still use Thunderbird for certain email accounts to maintain a partition of the emails I use on daily basis.
