“RENO 911! is Canceled.

It’s official! Comedy Central cancels RENO 911! today as revealed by show creator Thomas Lennon through Twitter.

“Reno 911! was cancelled at 1:30 pm today. Won’t be wearing the shorts again.”

Fans blame show creators for killing off the Deputies.

More on this.

I talked to Carlos Alazraqui who played Deputy James Oswaldo Garcia at The Hollywood Improv on Thursday night. Alazraqui says that he never left but only one season ahead of the show itself. He also says that fans can always watch the show on re-run and DVD. In addition to that Alazraqui will be hitting the road with Cedric Yarbrough (Deputy S. Jones) for the coming months.

p.s. Trying to get Cedric Yarbrough to say a few words about RENO 911! and his current projects. Stay tuned!

Our Friend, Comedian Cain Lopez Passed Away.

Sad news, our Comedian Friend Cain Lopez passed away at 2:00 PM Thursday July 9th, 2009. He was hospitalized since May 30th for an illness that was later found to be lung cancer.

Cain was diagnosed and treated for jaw cancer back in 2003. He reportedly was having trouble breathing back in May 2009 and was admitted to the hospital where he’s diagnosed with some form of lung cancer.

Cain’s family were by his side during his stay in the ICU. Many of his comedian friends visited him during his last few days. A pleasant surprise came from George Lopez who left a moving message through Darren Carter.

Cain Lopez, December 23rd, 2008.

I saw Cain Lopez performed number of times before introduced to him by Darren Carter. I took Lopez’s picture at Denny’s in Fullerton on December 23rd, 2009.

RENO 911!: The Complete Sixth Season DVD Set

RENO 911!: The Complete Sixth Season DVD Set was released on Tuesday July 7th, preempting the Season 6 Finale that was due on Wednesday July 8th. The two-disc set contains total of 15 episodes from the “shocking” season premiere episode to the season finale episode.

RENO 911!: The Complete Sixth Season

Season 6 starts with no mentions of the presumably killed Deputies. Fans are crying foul over the absence of Deputy Johnson, Deputy Kimball and especially Deputy Garcia (played by Wendi McLendon-Covey, Mary Birdsong and Carlos Alazraqui respectively). Enter Seargant Jack Declan and Deputy Frank Rizzo (played by Ian Roberts and Joe Lo Truglio respectively).

Fans of the show are divided in two, those who still like the show and those who now hate Season 6.

I am planning to buy the DVD set for two particular episodes. The first one with George Lopez and Jill-Michele Meleán. The second one with the tribute for Garcia involving some explosives and a canon.

There is no official word yet about the Seventh Season.

Disclaimer 1:

I have done a few projects with Carlos Alazraqui and plan to continue doing so. In addition to that I am also working with Jill-Michele Meleán who plays Maria Garcia (James Garcia’s Sister) and Gloria (Mayor Hernandez’s girlfriend in Season 6 Episode 8).

Faster Than The Speed Of Light.

Something that is faster than the speed of light? That’s a bull-pie! Nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. That’s why scientists increased the speed of light in 2208.

It might be some wacky comedy from Futurama, but a scientist has created radio waves that travels faster than the speed of light. John Singleton the scientist (not the movie director) has achieved that.

Something that is faster than the speed of light. I want my Sub-Space Communication along with Warp Drive, Transporter and Replicator. Wait a minute, that’s from Star Trek.

Anyway, Albert Einstein would be so proud.
