Hulu to Become Exclusive Home for “South Park”

SouthPark_Blog

From South Park Blog:

Hulu and South Park Digital Studios announced today the exclusive, multi-year licensing agreement to stream all seasons of “South Park” on the Hulu Plus subscription service. In addition, the entire “South Park” library will be available for free on Hulu from now until the premiere of season 18 this fall (Sept. 24). Fans will have next-day access to new episodes on Hulu and Hulu Plus starting with season 18. SouthPark.cc.com will continue to have all seasons of South Park until the beginning of season 18, at which point both Hulu and SouthPark.cc.com will have a revolving selection of free episodes available. Hulu will power the video and advertising experience on SouthPark.cc.com.

As of now until September 24, 2014 all but a few select episodes of South Park (Super Best Friends, 200 and 201) are freely available for viewing. Thereafter “a revolving selection of free episodes” will be available for viewing at Hulu and SouthPark.cc.com.

“This is a natural partnership for us,” said Matt Parker and Trey Stone, creators of “South Park.” “We are excited that the entire library will be available on Hulu and that the best technology around will power South Park Digital Studios.”

Does that mean Super Best Friends, 200 and 201 will be available for viewing to Hulu Plus subscribers?

It seems that South Park episodes will be heavily pirated again in the United States.

Sad News Everyone, Futurama is Canceled… Again.

This is from the Department of “Say It Ain’t So”.

Entertainment Weekly reports:

Comedy Central has decided not to renew Futurama, which means that the 31st-century-set animated comedy will end its 140-episode run on Sept. 4. The final 13 episodes, which represent the second half of season 7, begin airing on June 19 at 10 p.m.

You can send your complaints to Comedy Central for canceling Futurama.

Bender is definitely not amused by this news.

South Park: The Complete Fourteenth Season, the controversy continues.

For those who are expecting an uncensored version of South Park: The Complete Fourteenth Season might be disappointed.

First, you would instantly noticed that the packaging did not say “Uncensored” anywhere on the packaging. South Park: The Complete Eleventh Season was the first to be released uncensored. Both Twelfth and Thirteenth Season DVD and Blu-Ray were also uncensored. So, what about the Fourteenth Season?

Second, there’s a sticker that said “Includes All Episodes!” on the Complete Fourteenth Season packaging. Fans are concerned that both episode “200” and “201” would not be included in the set. As a matter of fact both episode “200” and “201” are still not available on iTunes Store and Amazon Instant Download. Well, “All Episodes” are included but Episode “201” is heavily censored just like the broadcast version. Adding insult to the injury, the commentary by Trey Parker and Matt Stone is also censored with long beeps. According to PArker and Stone, Comedy Central is the one behind the censorship and might not release the Complete Season if Episode “201” was uncensored.

More on this.

South Park: The Complete Fourteenth Season – all beeps are included.

So, you are a South Park Fan? You must be angry about Episode 201 and all those unnecessary beeps. Well, you must be thrilled to know that all the beeps are included in South Park: The Complete Fourteenth Season DVD and Blu-ray.

You must have wondered why.

Well, apparently Comedy Central would not release the uncensored episode in any form as Trey Parker and Matt Stone have explained.

Stay tuned for more updates.

South Park is sued for “What, What In The Butt” Parody Video.

It took more than two years for Brownmark Films to take South Park creators, Comedy Central and Viacom to court over a video parody that was done back in April 2008. Apparently the 30-something million views on YouTube and Billions of Theoretical Internet Dollars are not enough for Sam “Samwell” Norman and Brownmark Films.

From Hollywood Reporter:

……. “Courts have consistently recognized that parody enjoys broad protections under the First Amendment and the Copyright Act…….

….. old Q&A with the founders of Brownmark…….

What is Parody?

Editor’s note:
We believe that Parody is an art form and a protected from of free speech and expressions. Most of us had never heard of Samwell’s “What What (In the Butt)” video until it was parodied by South Park.

Comedy Central removed feedback page amidst South Park Controversy.

A few readers noted that Comedy Central has removed feedback page after receiving record numbers of complaints regarding South Park-Mohammed-censorship Muslim-Terrorist-Death-Threats controversy.

RANTS:
I understand that Comedy Central has acted on the best interest of their employees, Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Unfortunately such action exactly what the creators of South Park are against of. Stone and Parker wrote Cartoon Wars Part I and II with the message that we should not cave in to the demand of terrorists. As portrayed in Cartoon Wars episodes, Comedy Central is now burying their heads in the sand; pretending to hear nothing, see nothing and speak nothing.

There is nothing civilized for a group of people who represent the Muslims to threaten other human being with bodily harms and deaths. I know that there are those in this world who would blindly sides with this act of terror.

Congratulations Comedy Central, we’ve just lost another ground. You should have not backed down!

END OF RANTS.

Anything Sorta Goes: GizmodoGate, Microsoft vs. Android, and South Park!

It has been a busy week and I somehow forgot to write anything for this site. As a matter of fact, everyone are busy with their day job, personal life, etc. I told myself that I should be the first to break the streak this time.

Anyway, huge story from last week, even though I don’t really want to talk about it. The GizmodoGate! The San Mateo DA issued a search warrant to seize evidence in the “lost” Apple 4th Generation iPhone Prototype. Jason Chen, Gizmodo and Gawker Media are yelling “FOUL!” and trying to hide behind the Journalist shield law. The evidence in a way is pretty damnig. Jason Chen is smart enough to have video of himself with the iPhone, which turned out to be considered a stolen item. In addition to that, Gizmodo admits that they paid some money for the iPhone from the person who “found” it. Jason Chen also smart enough to take the iPhone apart and document it; you can find the videos easily, Google is your best friend. Jason Chen has now hired a defense lawyer. The EFF for sure scrutinizing the conduct of the San Mateo and the Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team (REACT). EFF is great but sometimes they could go overboard. Personally I do not like Gizmodo for all the attention-grabbing stunts they have done in the past, and most likely in the future. Anyone remembers 2008 CES?

——-

This one is a shocker and predictable. Microsoft is asserting the rights to collect royalty payment over Android Operating System. HTC has agreed to pay Microsoft for using Android Operating System. Where are the torches and pitchforks? The last time I saw them marching to Cupertino after Apple sued HTC for Patent Infringement. Where is the rage Mr. Laporte?

——-

Now, let’s get on to the finale of this post. South Park, Censorships, and Muhammad. For those who care already know what happened to South Park. April 14th, 2010 South Park celebrated its 2ooth episode with an episode aptly titled “200.” The episode drew somehow offended some Muslims and a group based in New York posted a warning against South Park creators.

RANT ALERT!
Seriously? You’re based in New York and you’re enjoying the Freedom Of Speech to threaten others for their Freedom Of Speech. Why don’t you move to a cave somewhere in the Middle East and then you can complain about other’s Freedom Of Speech. Wait, it’s still ironic. The Qur’an has never specifically or explicitly forbidden images of Muhammad. Now you’re threatening other human being over it?
/END OF THIS RANT

April 21st, 2010 Comedy Central aired “201” with tons of extra audio bleeps. Sure they bleeped out profanities. Comedy Central also bleeped out any utterance of “Muhammad” from the episode. Even further, Comdey Central bleeped out the closing speech that didn’t even mention anything about Muhammad. According to South Park Studios, Comedy Central does not approve the airing or streaming of Episode “201” in its original form. The episode was subsequently pulled off the air and has not been approved for sale on places such as iTunes Store and Amazon Video On Demands. In addition to that Comedy Central also pulled Episode “200” off the rebroadcast and the online stores.

Thousands of complaints from readers of this blog were sent to Comedy Central. Who’s to blame? Comedy Central is acting to protect their employees while subsequently caving in to terrorist’s demand.

ANOTHER RANT ALERT!
I for one values the First Amendment to The United States Constitution:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Comedy Central is acting within their rights to censor South Park. Matt Stone and Trey Parker have the right to express their opinion through their creation that is South Park. The fans have the right to complain to Comedy Central.

I am so appaled by the action of the party responsible for the death threats against Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Are there any Muslims out there who agree that the death threats is against everything what being human is all about? I do not want to be associated with anyone who supports violent against the South Park Creators. This is not the 13th century. For the Muslims who still thinks the custom of one region of the world from hundreds of years ago is the way the world should be, please leave us be.
