Apple seeds iOS 4.2 beta 2 and iTunes 10.1 beta to Developers.

As expected Apple seeds iOS 4.2 beta 2 to Developers today. In addition to that, Apple also seeds iTunes 10.1 beta for Mac OS X and Windows (x86 and x64) in conjunction of  iOS 4.2 beta 2.

As usual, information is a bit scarce due to a three letter abbreviation known as NDA.

If you are not using your iDevices for testing, please do not beg your friends or download it from unscrupulous site. Beta softwares known to have some bugs and iOS 4.2 beta is no exception.

Do not pay any sites for iOS beta. If you feel like getting the iOS beta, join iOS Developer Program for $99/year.

iOS 4.2 beta 1: Apple tweaks Maps App.

In iOS 4.2 beta 1, Apple tweaks Maps App traffic display to make it easier to read. The traffic colors are not as pronounced in iOS 4.2 beta 1, as a matter of fact they are more transparant now.

Apple seeds iOS 4.2 beta, requires Mac OS X 10.6.5 for AirPrint.

Apple has just seeded iOS 4.2 beta for iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, and iPod touch (2nd, 3rd & 4th, generations). Apple dubbed the wireless printing feature as AirPrint and it requires Mac OS X 10.6.5.

Registered iOS Developers can download Mac OS X 10.6.5 pre-release version along with iOS 4.2 beta.

Notes:

Just like any beta softwares, there are numbers of known issues with iOS 4.2 beta. Please refrain from installing it on your iOS device unless you have a backup-plan. Registered iOS Developers are made aware of this condition.

  • HP Photosmart Premium e-All-in-One Printer series – C310
  • HP Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One Printer series – B210
  • Printers shared through a Mac OS X running 10.6.5
  • Printers shared through a PC running the AppleMobileDevice software
