UPDATE:
Thanks to slower-than-modem Wi-Fi connection I had been unable to add the links on time.
I have added more links after Steve Jobs’ Keynote ends. The coverage provided great insight on the Keynote.

WordPress Tag Surfer Time Machine

I use the “Tag Surfer” feature often enough, and just now for some reasons it shows much older postings from 7 months and 7 years ago. What is going on???

WordPress Admins, this must be a glitch.

Yahoo! Hostings and WordPress 2.0.6

I have been using Yahoo! for my personal web-hosting for almost a year now. I also manage a few other sites hosted by Yahoo! and they have been relatively problem-free (not including the database crash I had a few months back).

When I started a blog on my personal site, I chose WordPress based on recommendations, reviews, and personal experience. One thing that I thought was great was that Yahoo! offers automatic WordPress software upgrade, and I chose that option. Currently my blog is still running WordPress 2.0.2 while version 2.0.6 was just released. I had contacted Yahoo! customer and technical support regarding the WordPress version. Unfortunately Yahoo! deems that there is no need to upgrade WorPress automatically, nor offers an easy to upgrade it manually.

Honestly I am a little bit “miffed” with Yahoo! on this matter. I have been searching for some documentations on upgrading WordPress using Yahoo! web-hosting. So far, I have found none.

I am currently running a mirror of my blog hosted by the good folks at WordPress.com and it has been generally excellent. One thing that I recently found out is that a little rant that I had might cause a little inconvenience with WordPress.com administrators.

Anyway, I am still looking for some instructions, informations, and feedback on upgrading WordPress using Yahoo! web-hosting.

The answer might lie here:

No Sleep ’till MacWorld San Francisco 2007

My Colleague and I are going to MacWorld San Francisco 2007. Thanks to the people who’s providing us some funds for lodging and transportation. We will be staying somewhere nearby the Moscone Center. Let’s see what Apple would do this year.

I’ll be somewhat reporting the whole trip to, at, and from MacWorld. As always, I’ll be posting entries on my blogs (37primeBlog and 37prime.worpress.com). I’ll attempt posting on both blogs at the same time, if possible. Most likely I’d be posting first on my main blog (37primeBlog), and add the entries to the “mirror” (37prime.wordpress.com) later on. My trusty MacBook Pro will be accompanying me along with my digital camera and video camera.

I am highly anticipating the arrival of the much fabled “Apple phone”. My current phones are at least 2 and 3 years old (Sony-Ericsson T616 and T637), both share 1 SIM card. Both phone don’t really work that well, and I’ve been swithcing between the two for the past few months.

No surprises when it comes to the iLife ’07 and iWork ’07; they are coming with some enhancements.

I have heard a  thing or two about the “iTV”; none of the rumor sites ever mentioned them. I trust my sources for the informations. If only they woud make Mac mini with “iTV” functionalities.

The usual upgrades/updates to Macintosh line would be no brainer. Then again, Apple will be releasing new and updated products throughout the first quarter of 2007. Special event in February? By doing so, Apple will stay in the media spotlight (no pun intended, or is it?) throughout the quarter and the year.

Many speculate that Apple would be releasing Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard on MacWorld. It’s such a wishful thinking based on the current state of Leopard Developer Preview Releases. Apple has not released any Leopard with Release Candidate label. To paraphrase Leo Laporte who’s quoting someone else, “Wouldn’t it be great for Apple to release Leopard two weeks before the actual Windows Vista release date?”

This is quite a long post……..

iPod shuffle Reset Utility 1.0.1 and Windows Vista

There has been reports that iPod shuffle Reset Utility 1.0.1 is not compatible with Windows Vista, I cannot confirm this as of yet. My main Windows computer currently runs Windows Vista RC2 Build 5744. I also run Windows Vista RTM (Business and Ultimate) on different computers.

According to Apple Support, iPod shuffle Reset Utility 1.0.1 for Windows System Requirements:

  • Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4
  • Windows XP with Service Pack 2

I will test the iPod shuffle Reset Utility 1.0.1 with Windows Vista (RC2 and RTM). Watch for this post for the result soon.

On Windows Vista RC2 Build 5744, iPod shuffle Reset Utility 1.0.1 failed to install.

Apple Releases iChat Update 1.0

On the fourth day of 2007 Apple releases the first update to Mac OS X. That’s 5 days before Steve Jobs’ Keynote at MacWorld San Francisco 2007. While it seems there’s nothing extra-ordinary on the update, one could only wonder if there’s some kind of significance with Apple’s upcoming releases to be announced at MacWorld.

From Apple Support Downloads:

iChat Update 1.0
This update renews the .Mac certificate required by iChat for encrypting text, audio and video conferences.

iChat Update 1.0 (PPC)2.3MB

LogMeIn Client now Supported in Mac OS X

UPDATE (01.27.2007):
For some reasons LogMeIn Client stops working properly on Mac OS X.
I figured out why it’s not working. I’m going to write in the details with all the glorious screen captures on my site: http://37prime.com/

Back in March 2006, I wrote a little review on LogMeIn. Previously, I was using GoToMyPC to help a friend. I first heard about LogMeIn on Leo Laporte Radio Show on KFI AM640. I tried out LogMeIn Free because it was totally free. I liked it with one exception, there was no client support on Mac OS X at that time.

Fast forward to January 2nd, 2007. My friend’s father who lives 270-something miles away had a problem with his computer. By chance, we had LogMeIn Free installed on his computer. While talking to him on the phone, I logged on to LogMeIn website and proceeded to control his computer. I then realized that I was using Safari on Mac OS X 10.4.8 and it was working. I didn’t know when exactly LogMeIn added Mac OS X compatibility. I told my friend about it, but he was having authentication problems when using Firefox 2 on his Mac.

Anyway, I am really glad that now LogMeIn Client is now working on Mac OS X. I can now convince my other friend to switch to LogMeIn Free from GoToMyPC since he’s only using basic remote desktop function.
