Safe bet, isn’t it?

So when would the next iPhone be released?

When you say “next iPhone” it must be “iPhone 5”, right?
Well, Apple must be naming it “iPhone 5” since everyone expecting iPhone 4S to be called iPhone 5. This must be a sure thing. “iPhone 5” it is!

iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 were announced at WWDC. Well, the original iPhone was introduced at MacWorld but it was announced to go on sale at WWDC. So this “iPhone 5” must be announced at WDDC 2012.

Not so fast.

iPhone 4S was introduced and released in Fall 2011 instead of WWDC time. Despite of what many analysts, journalists and pseudo-journalists believed, Apple did not plan to announce iPhone 4S at WWDC. The form factor was already decided long before the rumors of bigger screen, tapered edges, teardrop shaped, curved glass, and many others surfaced.

In due time when Apple starts seeding iOS 6, you may speculate again. In the meantime your guesses are as good as the analysts, journalists and pseudo-journalists.

iPad 3 production is not in high gear, yet.

Assumptions that Apple would release iPad 3 this March or April are based on the previous release dates of iPad and iPad 2; April 3 2010 and March 11 2011 respectively. As of this writing, iPad 3 production has yet to shift into high gear. Key Apple executives and managers responsible for iPad productions have not visited Foxconn China factory since the beginning of the year 2012. Back in December 2011, sources within Apple were saying that they are looking into March 2012 for the release of the next iPad which might be named iPad 3.

Based on partial information from an Apple employee who is not Phil Schiller, iPad 3 will not have “Retina Display”. According to the specs if the next iPad would have double the horizontal and vertical resolutions while maintaining its screen size, it would have lower than 300 pixels-per-inch density.

Bokatorp

Bokatorp, a cat, was the subject of my photography. My friend told me that Bokatorp died earlier tonight. He is now buried in the backyard where he was born and grew up in.

I looked into my photo archive and found these two photographs.

A picture of Bokatorp when he was just a few weeks old.

Bokatorp was in Google Maps Street View.

iPhone LTE?

UPDATE:
My contact who may or may not be working for Apple on iOS devices just laughed when I mentioned “iPhone LTE” as a possible name for the next iPhone. When asked specifically about LTE in the next iPhone, my contact said: “You know I can’t confirm nor deny that.”

Whispers from Cupertino mentioned “iPhone LTE” instead of “iPhone 5” as the name for the next iPhone. Take it with a grain or a boulder of salt. It is pretty apparent that Apple won’t be using “iPhone 4G” name since “4G’ doesn’t really mean anything anymore.

A source who is not Phil Schiller has been hinting that the next iPhone wouldn’t be called “iPhone 5” since the release of iPhone 4S.
