Nokia, You’ve gotta be kidding me!

Meatloaf is not amused

From GigaOM:

Nokia has confirmed reports that its Xpress Browser decrypts data that flows through HTTPS connections – that includes the connections set up for banking sessions, encrypted email and more. However, it insists that there’s no need for users to panic because it would never access customers’ encrypted data.

Nokia is playing the role of the man in the middle with the Xpress Browser. Nokia installs its own SSL/TLS certificate in the XPress Browser so it could create a secure/encrypted session to Nokia’s own server. The server then initiates https session with the website.

Does anyone remember what Opera Mini does?

Some corporate networks use proxy that request https session on the proxy on behalf of the computers in their networks.

Amazon introduces AutoRip CD

From Amazon.com:

Introducing AutoRip
Buy a CD, instantly get the MP3 version for FREE.

The idea has been floating around for years. Artists and fans can really benefit from this especially in combatting leaks. Often times, records were leaked without permissions months before the release date. Artists (and record labels) can send the digital version to pre-order customers early.

The best part about Amazon AutoRip:

Past Amazon CD Purchases
MP3 versions of tracks from CDs purchased from Amazon since 1998 and that are eligible for AutoRip will be delivered to your Cloud Player library. For some albums you purchased in the past, we may have added MP3 versions of some but not all of the tracks on the album, depending on track eligibility for AutoRip. The first time you sign in to Cloud Player for Web after the launch of the AutoRip program you will see a message indicating that the MP3 versions of eligible tracks from your past Amazon CD purchases are being placed into your Cloud Player library.

I have been buying CD’s from Amazon.com since 1998. This is going to be exciting.

CES 2013: Qualcomm, You’ve got to be kidding me!

Qualcomm’s CES 2013 Keynote deserves the “You’ve gotta be kidding me!” award.

Meatloaf is not amused

Hipsters, bad actors, horrible music (Maroon 5) and Steve Ballmer; those are just a few things that indicate what’s wrong with Qualcomm’s CES 2013 Keynote. If only Qualcomm had Nickelback and Kanye West, then it would make everyone in Las Vegas vomit.

Let me put it this way, me in my litter box makes a better CES Keynote than Qualcomm’s.

New Header for 2013

We (read: the main editor) finally get to upload the new header for 37prime.wordpress.com. It only took a minute and yet someone is complaining that he/she had no time to do so.

In other 37prime news, congratulation to MeatloafTheCat for launching his new feature: “You’ve gotta be kidding me!”
