Enable FileVault via command Line
Run the following command to check the FileVault status:
fdesetup status
If FileVault is off, proceed to enable it.
Use the following command to enable FileVault:
sudo fdesetup enable
You will be prompted to enter the admin password and create a recovery key. Save the recovery key in a safe place.
